December 17, 200421 yr Link Here MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Lisa Marie Presley is keeping Graceland but selling the bulk of the Elvis estate, including rights to her father's name and image, in a deal worth approximately $100 million. Elvis Presley Enterprises Inc. announced an agreement Thursday to sell 85 percent of its assets to businessman Robert F.X. Sillerman, founder of music and sports promoter SFX Entertainment. The Presley estate brought in almost $45 million last year. Sillerman said more aggressive marketing, supported by capital raised through a new publicly traded company, can make Elvis an even bigger earner. More at link
December 17, 200421 yr Dumb move. Selling off the franchise of one of the all-time American icons for next to nothing. Maybe her ex-hubby called and needs a quick cash infusion.
December 17, 200421 yr Author Dumb move. Selling off the franchise of one of the all-time American icons for next to nothing. Maybe her ex-hubby called and needs a quick cash infusion. $20 mil of the sale is stock in the new company. Her mommy is still getting paid as a consultant. Mike Jackson owns the rights to most of the Beatles catalog. It's a mad mad mad mad world we live in.
December 17, 200421 yr It's just a building.. Its not just a building including rights to her father's name and image The last thing that needs to happen is for Elvis and his image to become corporate jokes in commercials the way Michael Jackson did to the Beatles. Lisa Marie has more money than she will ever need because of her dad. The last thing she should do is whore out her dad's legacy for her own personal gain.

Elvis is already atop the charts in earnings for a dead celeb. There is more Elvis crap than anything else besides the last supper. Why religion and Elvis spawn such crap art work is beyond me. Which reminds me I have to go clean my Blacklight Elvis on Velvet painting.
December 17, 200421 yr SFX is a subsidiary of Clear Channel Entertainment if I'm not mistaken. Spooky.

And like I said, you aren't seeing Elvis tunes pitching Viagra and shoes yet, but now you will. It just pisses me off that people are learning some of the best music of my parents generation through commericals. It takes away from it to say the least.

I find it ironic that Cadillac would never have used a Led Zeppelin song when it was popular in the 70s. I do not mind as much if the song actually works with the show. CSI using Don't Get Fooled Again and Who Are You work nicely and I never tire of a good Who song.
