Nightmare PR possibility

These late night rants are caused when people actually read what is being said by Sox management, and not by the rumor mills or the dreaded message board poster.  All along, KW has stated the line about saving the money for the trade deadline.  Well, we all jumped on the RJ, Clement, and other rumors thinking that the Sox were going to go all out for them.  However, why in the world would we think that we could compete with offers made by powerhouse budget teams like Yanks, Red Sox, and Angels?

It's not all about the money. Kw can make moves at the trade deadline because he has young talent and prospects to trade to fill holes and get better. Bos. and esp the NYY have to make impact signings now because they can't make big moves later. These teams have guys making a lot of money that few other teams want in trades, and have piss poor farm systems.

These high payroll teams [who throw huge contracts around like they're sidewalk fliers] aren't w/o faults. Look at the Giambi, Manny Ramirez, Kim contracts. Many of these big contracts are an albatross they'd love to dump.

I don't have a problem w/ how the Sox are going about the offseason in preparation for 2005. They are locking in and rewarding guys based on performance [last yr, Buerhle, Marte, this yr, Uribe, prob. Rowand as well]. They are filling their holes via FA's and trades [maybe not as fast as people would like]. They have options [in guys like BMac and Anderson playing in 2005] and flexibility [in adding payroll and with minor league talent to trade] in case things don't work out.

I don't think the sox are done filling holes. they are a few players away from a very solid offseason.

This entire organization deserves the wrath of fans and Chicago media outlets alike if this nightmare scenario unfolds.

The only problem with that is, Sox fans harshly criticize the media and dismiss them as idiots every time they bash the Sox. Most of the time, they just say the same things that are said on here. It's kind of the "we can say it, but can't" rule.

Just remember the other hand also. That this mythical 6 millions dollars in savings will not be spent if we are say 10 games back by July.

If we are 10 games back by July there will be another salary dump, you can book that. Konkero will most definately be gone as well as others.
