Trade Crede and slide Uribe to third

Pick up Vizquel and slide Uribe to second

Go get Eck and put him at second and leave Uribe at SS.

 

He's young, cheap, and improving. And the way teams are signing SS now, the next free agent class is going to average $10 mil a year. Hard hitting OF are a dime a dozen. If Rowand is having a bad year, we can slide Spod to CF and get a LF through a mid season trade.

IMO the 3 most important DEF postions on the Diamond are

 

2b

SS

and

CF

 

Always want to have a soild middle, which Rowand provides. He is one of the few home grown talents we have that have panned out, time to pay the man for f***ing him over the last 3 years.

you forgot catcher....solid up the middle includes behind the plate......and maybe with rowand we give him around 4 mill and load it with incentives

DYB, Rowand can play all 3 OF postions, I love Rowand, but the sox have done nothing but f*** him over time and time again..as stated before one of their own home grown talents wants to stay, so instead of 10 its going to cost 12mil. Just sick of watching our talent walk over 1-2mil dollar differnce.

Or, Rowand can hit 265 next season, have 100 K's, and we be stuck with a bad contract for four years.

ANd Uribe, who had one good year while hitting all in hitters parks. You feel he deserves all that money ... I sure as hell don't one decent year, doesn't require that much money.

I hope we don't sign Rowand to a long-term deal. I don't think you build your offense around a guy who doesn't do any one hting exceptionally well. He does most things fairly well, but he just doesn't have enough power or enough speed for my liking. I wanted Rowand traded this offseason while at peak value, we'll see how this works out for the Sox.

Rowand is the closest thing we have to a .300 hitter, how can you say trade him. Also to say he is not above avg in defense is crazy. He plays hard, he has heart, why in the world would you want to trade him?

Are you being sarcastic? You can like who ever you want, s*** you can have Harris as your favorite player of all time but to try and trade Rowand would be dumb. Theres no other team that values him like we do, so even if you would trade him we wouldn't be getting what we think he is worth.

Last year he hit .310 with a .905 OPS. When i said he could be a guy to build our team around i meant if he put up those numbers again.

Rowand can steal bases.

Rowand can catch the ball.

Rowand can run.

 

If Aaron goes into the All Star break next year with a .300 average and some other good numbers to show for it, start to contract negotiating, and give him what he wants.

I would put Catcher at the top of the list. Something we are lacking right now.

I kind of like the idea of having a guy on the team that does everything well. Rowand plays a damn good CF, runs the bases like he actually knows what he is doing, hits for power and average. I'll take 9 Aaron Rowand type players and take my chances.

 

As far as a comparison to Uribe goes, Uribe is a solid ballplayer that can turn out to be a bargain for the next 3 or 4 years. I have no complaints with the signing of Uribe. I really don't feel that we threw a ton of money his way. I certainly like that signing much better than I would have liked the Sox signing Cabrera for what the Angels did. Hell, that's a no brainer.

 

If I was Rowand, I wouldn't agree to sign a contract for what Uribe did. Rowand is a more complete player at this point. He is more consistant. But, I also feel the Sox are doing the right thing by making him prove he's capable of repeating or exceeding last year's production.
