  1. QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Jan 30, 2010 -> 03:21 PM) If Damon can be signed, then I really like the following lineup. It's so much more balanced 1-9 with him in there over Jones or Kotsay. Speaking of Jones and Kotsay (and even Vizquel), I think they are championship caliber bench players, and that's what I'd love for them to be on the 2010 White Sox. Pierre LF Beckham 2B Damon DH TCQ RF Konerko 1B Teahen 3B / AJP C Rios CF AJP C / Teahen 3B Alexei SS I could see him batting 3rd for us as you have above. Especially with Ozzie's love of flip flopping the lefties and righties. The one exra left handed hitter does make it much more balanced.
  2. Pie in the face by Dye in postgame interview with Gammons.
  3. QUOTE(BearSox @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 05:34 PM) the thing that still gripes me about this deal is how we couldn't get a leadoff hitter. Agreed, especially when we made a trade with a team with Figgins & Willits. Disappointing we could not get one of those guys as part of the deal. Willits will now not start with an outfield of Matthews Jr., Hunter, Guerrero with Anderson DH'ing. Hopefully more to come.
  4. Big Frank preferred Albert Belle over Bonds years ago. Not sure if others remember this???
  5. Not happy but at least there is no false sense of security from management's perspective. No way they can say "we were close, we just need a few minor changes."
  6. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 05:20 PM) Where did he bat in the order? He has been batting 3rd.
  7. QUOTE(RME JICO @ May 28, 2007 -> 05:46 AM) I actually thought this was a good fit the minute he was released. He is great vs LHP .290/.389/.527/.916, and can play emergency catcher if needed. That adds a whole new element because the Sox can PH with Hall and still have Wilson to backup AJ in the event of an injury. He can play 1B, 3B, RF, and C, and if he doesn't work out, no big deal. Agreed. Minor league deal is no risk to us. The upside if he works out is worth it.
  8. I like Gload but he really never had a chance with us. Never got any playing time and was almost a wasted roster spot. Good to get another lefty for the pen so Ozzie can have the option to micro-manage the game.
  9. I wonder how much Ozzie family connection to Freddy Garcia would play into this? Not to suggest that it is Ozzie's decision but I wonder if he would be the one traded all things being equal.
  10. QUOTE(ExpatNYC @ Sep 29, 2006 -> 09:03 PM) Could Gooch play another infield position if Soriano took 2B? I believe he used to play shortstop but had arm trouble which prompted the move to 2nd base. I don't think that there are any other options for Iguchi other than 2nd base at this point in his career.
  11. Umpire shows up Thome on the 3rd strike call there. Very Demonstrative.
