March 10, 200521 yr http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/TV/03/09/t...r.ap/index.html In a brief statement at the end of the broadcast, Rather paid tribute to September 11 terrorist victims, tsunami survivors, American military forces, the oppressed, those in failing health and fellow journalists in dangerous places. "And, to each of you," he said. "Courage." He seemed to savor each word of his signoff Wednesday: "For the `CBS Evening News,' Dan Rather reporting. Good night." I watched a Rembering Dan Rather special tonight, he sure has had a great career. What's he going to do now, continue reporting or something? Edited March 10, 200521 yr by KipWellsFan
March 10, 200521 yr "... and CBS is now projecting Al Gore as the winner of Florida." That'll be my lasting impression of Dan Rather. I've always thought that Dan leaned a little to the left, but not unreasonably so for a news anchor. Unfortunately for him, his subordinates leaned way too far to the left and ultimately betrayed his trust. I'd like to see Dan go to one of the cable news channels. He's got a few good years left and it's not like anybody watches CBS anymore. Edited March 10, 200521 yr by TheBigHurt35

March 10, 200521 yr I didn't really like the guy, but it's sad seeing him and Tom both gone now. Times chance I guess.
