I thought I'd start it out, since it's less than 30 days til the draft.

Have at it!

49ers head coach Mike Nolan reportedly is leaning towards drafting Michigan receiver Braylon Edwards with the first pick in the draft.

Unless Aaron Rodgers or Alex Smith impress next week in workouts, Nolan reportedly thinks Edwards is the top player available. The sentiment that both quarterbacks could be a little overrated appears to be gaining steam in the NFL community. Edwards, a senior eligible, would be expected to start right away on the 49ers, probably across from Brandon Lloyd.

No Braylon Edwards there Knight. But still I can't see San Fran passing on Rodgers.

In this scenario, could the Bears draft a QB?

I just don't think you can afford paying two QB's first round money. You saw how much Phillip Rivers is making San Diego, and with Drew Brees getting franchised, that's like $15M in cap space being eaten up b/w the 2 of em.

If i were the 49ers i would take either a WR or LB Johnson, or CB Rolle and take charlie Frye as the first pick in the second round. Somthing tells me Rodgers and smith got bust written all over them.

The voting will continue until tomorrow. (Or, if I get a mass majority or a minimum of 15 votes.)

Some scouts said Alex Smith's workout was the best they have seen since Troy Aikman's, it was in front of 100+ scouts and they gave him a standing ovation at the end of it.

Just to add on to Palehosefans post here is the rest of that small summary.

I've been coming to private workouts for decades, but this is the first time I can remember a player receiving a standing ovation from his audience. He was lights out. Smith threw for 45 minutes, and in that time, only one ball wasn't catchable, and that was at the end of the session when Savoy's tongue was hanging out after being run all over the field.

Larry Kennan, now the head of the NFL coaches association, ran the workout. Smith was previously thought of as a shotgun quarterback because of Utah's offense, but Smith and Kennan mapped out a great scripted workout that saw Smith make all the throws -- three-step drops, five-step drops, play-action passes, deep passes, crossing routes, roll-out passes and, of course, the deep routes. In fact, Smith threw 62 yards to a receiver standing on the goal line, and the pass was perfect.

They don't call this "Money Week" for nothing, and I am sure that Smith feels like he helped himself get into position to be the first quarterback taken, and possibly the first player taken, in April's draft.

Which is why I chose Smith over Rodgers.

If Alex Smith somehow gets a bunch of votes between now and midnight, I can change SF's pick.
