Aparently in '85 SI wrote about a kid that could throw 150 MPH but was turned off by the morals of baseball because they interfered with his buddhist beliefs. It's up on the SI website if anyone wants to take a look. It says he pitched behind a canvas thing against players like Dykstra and knocked the catcher over with a 150+ MPH fastball...

It's pretty well known by now that the Sidd Fitch story was made up for an April Fools Day article. It's a rather frequent reference and joke whenever something is either fishy or known to be made up.
