Just for the record, not a flame, but I bash mariatti because I read his stuff and know he sucks, I bash Hemingway because I've read several of his novels, I don't like Coldplay--but I've heard all their albums.

I've read articles like the one here, I've never read her books though.

I have never even heard of her but it seems she has some really extreme beliefs and ideas...

Just to clarify--there is such a crime as marital rape. Not necessarily in the sense that Dworkin means, though.

 

Also, I would say that Dworkin is a main reason that feminism today has a bad rap. She was an interesting thinker, but not my cup o' tea....

If they were meant in a joking manner (i.e. Kinison, Hicks, etc.) then its different. However, I think what she was doing was engaging in hackery of a great degree. The research regarding pornography does not even support her claims.

I think that Dworkin is, was, and should be and affront to feminism. Really, her theories were rantings about the evils of men under the guise of feminism.

No.. I don't think anyone's usage of the word indicates they are any better or worse than anyone else. If language usage was an indication of intelligence around here.. I imagine those with stock in Pampers would be much richer than they already are. Quite frankly.. I don't care what anyone else does. It's something I would not do. Which is why I said... Regarding the use of language and IQ, I once took a religion class taught by a rabbi who would often refer to the leader of Nazi Germany as "that f***ing asshole Hitler." I'll go out on a limb and say that a Distinguished Professor and Department Head at a Big 10 University is probably more intelligent than either of us.
