April 25, 200520 yr I was just wondering...say you had your choice-would you rather live in the big city and go to a couple Major League games a year, or live in a smaller city, and go to more minor league games a year? Remember, while the bigs may be the "Real Deal", think of the cost--way cheaper to attend a minor league game, and you could attend more of them. Also, while I've never been to an affiliated minor league game (I've always wanted to go to one), I have a feeling the game would seem more "pure". I could be way off base on that, but who knows. Something about being able to see the younger guys, too. So, for me, while I love being able go to White Sox games, I think I'd prefer to live in a smaller area and go to more games. And when I say smaller, I'm talking something about the size of, say, the Quad Cities (just the first thing that popped in my head). So, which do you choose?

I live in a city w/ an A ball team. I go to a lot of games, and I've seen a lot of players come through (Pierzynski, Hunter, Lawton, Hawkins, Koskie, Rivas, Cuddyer, Burroughs, etc.) but I'd much rather be at White Sox games.
April 25, 200520 yr Where do you live farm? Pretty much anywhere is within driving distance of a minor league ballpark. Major league by far. I don't think I'd be very interested in baseball if I lived nowhere near a major league ballpark.
April 25, 200520 yr Author I suppose that, if the situation were reversed, I'd much rather go to Big League games. Still...I'd like to get to more minor league games.

Remember, while the bigs may be the "Real Deal", think of the cost--way cheaper to attend a minor league game, and you could attend more of them. So, which do you choose? Minor League hands down I attend around 70 Minor League games a year and have been to Atlanta, Phoenix but for the dollar and the fun it is Minor Leagues, Players are far more friendly it is just a better time and to get a outfeild ticket in Atlanta it is $18 Park $10 and a Hotdog + Coke is another $10 not to mention Programs or any souvenirs. So $38 just for me to go to a game, While I can do all of that for $14 at a Barons game and that would be a front row seat next to the dugout.
April 25, 200520 yr The Cougars are a pretty neat team to see but there's no way in hell they beat the experiance of a White Sox game.
April 25, 200520 yr I have an independent league team about 4 minutes away from me. They're fun to go to every once and awhile, but nothing even close to a white sox game, regardless of price.
April 25, 200520 yr being a baseball fan and growing up in the Peoria area I still hardly ever went to Peoria Chiefs games, who are a Low A Cubs affiliate now but were Cardinals before and had Ankiel when he was the biggest thing in baseball and Pujols for a whole year. They also have a sweet downtown stadium, and I still don't go. It's weird watching guys you've never heard of, even though you know one of them will probably be in the majors some day. I'd take Major League hands down.
April 25, 200520 yr NO doubt the majors. It is a fun thing to see the love of the game at the minor league level, and how much harder people play down there, but it is no measure against the beauty of the talent that major leaguers posess.
April 25, 200520 yr Major league easily. We've got a AAA team here in town and I pretty much only go to see the Sox farmhands when they are in town. It's just something about being at a big league ballpark and the total atmosphere that sets it far apart from even a great minor league experience, which we have here in Louisville.
April 25, 200520 yr I moved down to Austin 2 1/2 years ago and the one thing I miss more than anything else is major professional sports. We have Arena football, Central Hockey League Ice Bats, UT sports, and the Astros new AAA affiliate Round Rock Express (owned by the great Nolan Ryan, btw). Last year it was AA. And it is an absolute blast. Good, inexpensive tickets, cheap beer and eats...but it's not the show. There is such a talent jump from minors to majors. So, I'd say Majors, but for family fun...minors. If only they could bring Arlington or Houston a little closer so I can go see the Sox win or the Cubs lose...
April 25, 200520 yr Major Leagues for me. No question about it. Edited April 25, 200520 yr by WilliamTell
