I was just surfing Ebay for a couple of things, and came accross a couple of auctions for old seats from the new ballpark. The seats aren't too expensive, but the shipping is steep.

If someone is interested in buying ask the seller if you can pick up the seats ( he lives in chicago) that will save the 80.00 shipping.

Damn, I'd so buy one of these if I didn't have to get two. I'd love one of 'em in my house...

And the $100 bucks for shipping is a drag, too. Understandable, but still a drag...

EDIT: Ah, stupid me -- I didn't even know that they were connected like that. I'm thinking about bidding on the first one.

I was lucky enough to have a friend working for the Sox when the old park came down.

He got all of his close friends a seat, mounted and delivered to the house!

I'm staring at it right now..... :headbang

I have eternal gratitude for my buddy!!!

EDITED to add that I wouldn't want a BLUE seat....those are gross...... :D

The old green seats are great, I have one of those, two from Chicago Stadium, one from Milwaukee County Stadium (White Sox played games there in '68 and '69, which I remember still), two from Soldier Field, and four from the Intermational Amphitheatre. Also bricks from Comiskey, the Amphitheatre, Milwaukee Country Stadium, Chicago Stadium, and the Chicago Coliseum. And a big bar. :drink

The only other stadium seats I have are two from Chicago Stadium.

Since I'm not a Bears fan ( not really much of a football fan, but the Mrs. likes the Packers, so I do too.....[ducking]..... ), those are the only two places I wanted seats from.

The Amphitheatre would be cool, too - saw a TON of AWA/WWA wrestling shows back in the 70s.

Saw Moose Cholok, Dick the Bruiser, The Crusher, Black Jack Lanza, Mitsu Arikawa and Dr. Moto, and Big Ernie Ladd there at a big event. Must have been 1970 or so.

Also saw REO Speedwagon in '78 at the Amphitheatre. The Beatles played there, so did the Rolling Stones, so did Elvis.

Oh yeah, a LOT of bigger shows came to the Amph for a while there.

Kiss came there, I know, but I never saw a concert there.

I went almost every month to see the wrestling shows, though - my favorite part was the lame-ass "Hall Of Fame" where they stuck 8x10 photos along a corridor, draped it off and showed 8mm films ( with NO sound!! hahaha ) of previous cards on a cheapo retractable screen. What an honor it must have been to be inducted into such a LAVISH Hall Of Fame..... )

It always stunk of livestock in there too.

My dad used to take me to the Stock Yard Inn for a burger and then we'd walk over to see a Chicago Cougars hockey game.

Right before they demolished it in 1999, they had a garage sale and that's when i got the 4 seats, $25 each. Previously, I'd gone on a "Midnite Requisition" into the building and what do you know, one of the metal signs pointing the way to the Balcony fell off the wall and into my winter jacket.

There's a big warehouse on the site now for Aramark, and there's no marker or anything indicating the Amphitheatre stood there. Same is true for the Chicago Coliseum, formerly at 15th and Wabash, demolished in 1982. They developed a small neighborhood park across the street in the mid-90's on land that used to be a parking lot for the Coliseum. I wrote a letter to Daley and the Chicago Park District suggesting it be named Coliseum Park, and luckily someone thought it was a good idea ... so Coliseum Park now sits at 15th and Wabash. A concert by James Taylor and Carole King was the last event there, in March 1971 (no, I did not attend  ). No one cares but Cream with Eric Clapton played there, so did Jimi Hendrix and The Doors. Bulls had their first playoff game there, March 1967, Blackhawks played there 1926-1929 before the Stadium was built.
