May 14, 200520 yr http://www.suntimes.com/output/sox/cst-spt-sox14.html This season is incredible! After gaining the lead in their 36th consecutive game this year the White Sox moved up to 5th on the all time list in this category. Tying the 1942 NYY & BOS teams. The record remains 48 set by the 1998 NYY's between July & Aug of that year. Each time they gain the lead before the 9th they pad the record they own: Most consecutive games led from the start of the season. This is big deal because the overall offense numbers are not very good. The Sox had 19 LOB last night. But timing is everything in this game. Konerko may be treading the Mendoza line but his broken bat hit was the big play of the game. It's probably the difference between winning & losing last night. May 14, 200520 yr They give themselves a chance to win every game, and the pitching usually holds onto the lead.
May 14, 200520 yr This record is only impressive when you look at the overall record. You could have the record and be 2-34.
May 14, 200520 yr No the record is impressive because it means that your always at some point in a game in position to win.... btw that broken bat single from Konerko was great especially since he stared at it like it was a HR lol.
May 15, 200520 yr Ok so the Yankees have the longest streak of leading at 48 games in a row then?? I guess I thought the Sox set the record, but that could just be for to open a season.
May 15, 200520 yr Yeah, my understanding is that he's talking about streaks in any stretch of the season.
May 15, 200520 yr QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 14, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) btw that broken bat single from Konerko was great especially since he stared at it like it was a HR lol. Ya, I was just waiting for him to do the Sammy Hop.
