I think I remember BHAM telling us about an earlier incident with a female ump and that it got in the way of the game. Sad that it's happening again.

There is a chick umpire behind the plate and apparantly she doesn't get along too well with Razor Shines, the Barons manager.  She took off the mask and is yakking it up with Shines.  Don't know what it's about.

 

West Tenn has a guy on and Barons are bringing in Paulino Reynoso.

 

 

 

I think they have had some disagreements in the past... she has made some

BAD calls !!!! I actually was there for a couple of them.

This game has turned into a freakin' disaster, West Tenn has taken a 4-3 lead. The Barons catcher, Chris Stewart, has made two bad plays ... he couldn't pick up a bunt and he tried to throw a guy out and it went into CF. Make that 3 bad plays, he dropped a swinging 3rd strike too.

 

What a mess.

Looks like between Chris Stewart and Bobby Jenks (walk, hit by pitch, wild pitches, and a flubbed easy out on a suicide squeeze dropped by the catcher)

pretty much cost the Barons the one run lead in the top of ninth, probably the game.

 

Its now 4-3 West Tenn. UGH

He grounds it up the middle the SS makes a nice play, game over. Barons lose 7-3, what an ugly 9th inning. Jenks and Chris Stewart both screwed up there.

Yes this goes back to April we she made a couple of calls that made me wonder how she graduated ump school. a Flyball off the wall called homerun and a runner called safe and tagged up even though he was touching homeplate when the catch was made. Then Tonight she missed the call at the plate Owens made a great reach around touched the plate was called out then the whole pinch hitter mess which is the second time that has happened.

I really though Chris Stewart changed into a D-Jaxx uniform he might as well first it started with the K of Pie that was a very blockable ball that allowed a run to score then the Squeeze I mean when the ball is right at your chest 6 inches from the plate and the runner is still 20 feet away I expect that he makes the play or lets it go foul then on a failed hit and run where the runner is dead to rights he throws the ball into CF and then for Iceing Sweeney's throw beats the last runner to the plate all he has to do is apply the tag instead he fires to second for a run down allowing another run to score. Nothing like giving the best team in the SL a 10th man on the field. Jenks I don't blame as much considering the defense fell apart maybe one run should have scored but that was it

Sweeney drills a shot off the 3B into short left field, the SS throws home and gets Owens out at the plate, 5-6-2 for the 3rd out.

 

Should have been an error in my opinion. The SS made a nice play to get Owens at the plate, but the ball wasn't hit that hard.

The squeeze play should have been made, but it was not easy. Stewart had to quickly come out from behind the plate, not knowing how far it is going to go forward. The ball was playable, but he is facing CF and can't see how close the runner is at the time. Everything gets hurried on a squeeze play. Pitchers often make errors trying to rush a toss back to the catcher. The play should have been made, but it was not as easy as it may have looked.

 

I think he made the right play on Sweeney's throw. The throw was short and he had to take a step forward to catch it. I do not think he would have been able to catch it moving forward and then turn around and make the play on a runner sliding toward the backside of the plate. He saw the play in front of him and was smart enough to make the easy out on the runner.

 

Stewart did look a little rough tonight. But there was another "bad throw" he made that seemed to be more of confusion over who was covering 2B. Neither the 2B or SS got to the bag. It wasn't a great throw but proper coverage would have saved him there.

 

Jenks pitched like s***, from the very beginning. He was all over the place and had no idea where the ball was going. His delivery was inconsistent. Stewart could have bailed him out by making the squeeze play, but Jenks just wasn't good. He imploded after that play and it got ugly quickly.

Stewart definitely rushed it, that's for sure.... But that is normal for a squeeze play. Players react quickly thinking they have to make the perftect play. He is looking at the ball facing CF, not seeing how close the runner is at the plate. The play should have been made, but it just isn't as easy a play as most people make it out to be. That's why the squeeze works, there is not much margin for error, so the players tend to rush it.

I think you have to give a credit to the West Tenn players because you can

be the greatest "coach" in the world and if the team doesn't execute, it

means absolutely NOTHING!!! They do have the best record in all of minor league

baseball after all.

 

We should have won that game last night plain and simple and all the

fake bunts, hit and runs, squeeze plays and stolen bases doesn't mean a

thing if the Barons play solid ERROR-FREE baseball. Usually the team

that makes the least mistakes win the game...........
