Sox first round pick

Featured Replies

I hadn't read about this yet, but I just found out that if the Sox had won one more game last year, then they would have been picking 16th. Only the top 15 picks in the draft are protected, and if we had the 16th pick, we would have lost it when we signed Hernandez from the Yankees. Thus, I guess we can appreciate something that Grilli did for us! Sorry if this had been discussed already, just thought it was something interesting.

MLB draft is confusing and weird.

Ya, it was talked about a lot in the offseason fathom but that kind of got lost in the shuffle considering everything that happened in the offseason. It's definitely something to appreciate though that can and did get overlooked at times.

I think KW might of been more hesitant to sign El Duque if it meant losing our 1st rounder... just a thought.

I think that's ridiculous. KW has laid everything on the line his last few years trying to get all of us a championship. He has no thoughts about trading Reed and Olivo and other prospects to get us a championship, i highly doubt that would have factored into the equation.

They're called prospects for a reason.
