Actually...continents move apart at a rate of roughly 1 centimeter per year...to first order that's the rate your fingernails grow.

 

The last time there was any contact between South America and Africa was about 200 million years ago. North America was splitting off from Africa even before that.

The site of those drawings is a very, very remote region of Peru. I believe you'd have to cross a mean desert to get there. This is why you only get overhead shots from a helicopter. Plus, I think they're actually huge.

The theory is that they were landing strips for vessels. The picture of the alien actually appears to be waving out into space.
