40 man implications? YOu wouldn't give a guy who hits with power and average a chance. When we go to 40 man the sox will bring him up if he's doing well.  I could give a damn what his past performance was but if he's turned the corne  bring him up.  The sox are the slowest when it comes to trying out their minor league talent.. We end up sending them in a deal somewhere else instead of getting the benefit of their play..

Leo Daigle is not coming up this season. Also, the Sox have a long history of rushing their top pitching prospects up to the majors.

Yeah hits for power and average, with a .300 OBP at AAA and a 12:1 K/BB ratio. :rolly:

The 40-man implications I was speaking of relate to Daigle never, ever, cracking the Sox 40-man roster. If he is put on it, somebody else has to come off of it. Joe Borchard is the only player who's a forgone conclusion to lose his 40-man spot after this season. But you've got guys like Chris Young who need to be protected next year. Putting Daigle on the 40-man over guys like Young is something the Pirates would do. See Chris Shelton.

Can the Twins find a hitter?

They're definitely shopping, especially at third base. But the two names out there don't fit real well. Looks as if Mike Lowell will be attached to the Burnett deal, which leaves the Twins out of that one. And I heard they weren't overly excited by Joe Randa, although they still might go in that direction if the price is right. But the Reds are pricing Randa as if he's Scott Rolen, so if that doesn't change, he'll stay right where he is.

Randa's price not too high!?!? Via Juggs:

Joe Randa - probably headed out of town (Cincy) for a AA prospect.

Is the price really that low? Kenny has to jump on this for sure then

Yet they say the Reds are shopping Randa around like he's Scott Rolen. So we have conflicting reports on what the Reds are asking for. As fans, we'll just have to wait and see what actually happens.

Exactly Gammons said no one will gigve the Reds what they want for a 35 yr old 3B who is a 2 month rent a player!!! Reds are asking way too much for everyone and none of them will be moved

ill pass. next

Dunn and Kearns are not avaliable and the Indians and Twins have failed to get Randa cuz the reds are greedy!

Right now, this far in front of the trade deadline, why not be greedy? The Reds are under no pressure to make any moves for another week at least. Someone may very well come around and decide to meet their asking price. It worked for the Devil Rays last year in trading Victor Zambrano.

I bet you Randa will still move, and probably Dunn as well...but they won't move until July 30th. Teams that are genuinely out of the race are in no rush to make deals, but a team like the Twins, Orioles, or Nationals, who should be genuinely concerned that they're starting to fall out of the race, is in a hurry, and might pay extra to not have to wait that week.

Not having to wait that week is important to teams like that. They want to take a shot, but if the trade doesn't light a fire under their team, then they can put the newly acquired player back on the market near they deadline and cut their losses.
