Breaking News segment on Sportscenter claims talks between Orioles and Marlins have sped up recently. Sidney Ponson could be included in any posssible deal to offset Lowell's salary. In addition, a desonated time period could be placed aside for Orioles to work out a long term deal for AJ.

 

A deal, in principle, could be completed soon as tonight.

Are you kidding? I don't see how getting Burnett would hold us at all! An offensive weapon or a closer would be a much bigger addition for this team.

It seems KW didn't want the Lowell contract, neither did the O's, but swapping Ponson's contract may be the only way this goes down... for the sake of the teams involved Burnett has to be moved by this weekend or the Fish have to tell him he's staying, probably f***ing up the atmosphere in the clubhouse

It's done, somehow Texas gets Ponson too. Details emerging.

Burnett to Baltimore cannot hurt us. The O's have little chance holding on for a wild card, and does anyone think they will beat out the BoSox and Yankees in the stretch run?

 

Personally, I never really wanted Burnett for the price they were seeking. I guess we'll soon find out how cheaply he came. (But we also couldn't afford to be burdened with a bad contract for Mike Lowell.) If he could be flipped for Wagner, maybe, but I think that was a pipe dream.

Total pipedream here but if the Sox could swing the deal with Toronto and then get Burnett and Lowell and then swing Burnett for Wagner...this team wouldn't need anything else...IMO
