Wanne
Everybody might piss and moan about it....but hell...why not. What would it take? You've got guys like: PK: $8.75M Contreras: $8.5M ARow: $2M Frank: $8M (not trading...but a wash because with Manny, Franks not back next year) I'd give up BMac....but no way Anderson or Sweeney go anywhere. It'd almost make sense to include ARow in the deal somehow and move Pods to center. The Sox have some ammunition to pull some deals...but personally...I'd take Manny in a heartbeat. That is unless the Sox are sitting back hoping to resign CLee this offseason (should be in green...but I'm lazy). Bottom line...the Sox desparately need some pop in the lineup. ok...blast away. White Sox Josh
no way in hell. he is 1-dimensional and can't paly defense. He is a tremendous hitter however that contract is worth $20 million a year and what do you think it would take to trade for him. If anyone thought it would be just some prospects than they are wrong. You would have to assume that the BoSox would want PITCHING meaning Buehrle or Garland. plus they have enough righthanded thumpers. They need a lefthanded thumper. It would take more than BMac and Arow to get a deal done, maybe throw in a in Marte and maybe 1 or 2 more good prospects. There is no way in hell I would ever put Manny in LF for this White Sox team, then you weaken CF with Pods out there and his wonderful jumps :puke, and have Manny Ramirez in LF who is widely considered THE worst defensive OF in baseball. Manny's contract is f***ing ridiculous and would hamper the team for the next 3 seasons atleast. Besides you can have him for nothing in the Offseason when he's put back on waivers. bjm676
I think we should start "trade for Aubrey Huff or Billy Wagner" threads personally.
JUGGERNAUT
You can't trade Frank, & no on Konerko & Rowand. They are a BIG part of the White Sox being one of the best defensive teams in the majors right now. You'd be insane to trade good bats with great gloves for a great bad with a below avg glove. Scott "I can't see the ball .. Rowand help!" Podsednik for Manny is intriguing. If that & prospects could Manny + cash Kenny would be a fool not to consider it. Pods is an all-star because he is the best base stealer in the game today & a good lead-off guy. But Manny is last year's WS MVP. The lineup with Manny: Iguchi-Rowand-Manny-Konerko-Dye-Everett-Uribe-AJ-Crede Everett LF, Manny DH. Sweeney/Anderson become a LF option in Sept. Uribe had two solid months as a #2 in 2004 so I think he would do better behind Everett than #9. If he gets on that puts better on the pads for the sluggers AJ & Crede. It would be tough to face SPods in the post season but we are talking about Manny here. The fans would forgive KW for the move. Going forward the Sox are solid WS contenders for the remainder of Manny's contract. On the emotional side I liken Manny to that of Carl Everett. He was hated in Boston & he's been pretty well received here. I think Manny would be as well. Chemistry wise he's probably a friend of Ozzie's as well.
