Jack Morris and the HOF

Morris takes a stand

Make no mistake, Jack Morris wants to be in the Baseball Hall of Fame. He has worked hard in recent years to change Hall voters' perception of him.

But the former pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, Toronto Blue Jays and Minnesota Twins said a day could come when he no longer cares to be honored in Cooperstown. If even one Steroid Era-tarnished player is elected, Morris said you can erase his name from the ballot.

"I don't want to be in," said Morris, the winningest pitcher of the 1980s. "That's a bold statement, and a lot of people are going to say, `Well, how dare him even say that.' I don't care. It's my life. I can say what I feel, and I don't believe in cheating."

Oh well...

McGwire will be in there in a couple years.

He will be the first 'roid accused player in the Hall.

I can see where he's coming from, but if he wants to be in, he's gonna have to accept it. I know this is a stretch, but maybe if all of these steriod users get in, Shoeless Joe would be mentioned to be in, but before that'd happen, Pete Rose would have to be in. Everyone would think the Hall of Fame is watered down.

You're assuming the HOF voters won't be unwilling to think about the past.
