Greatest Calls of All Time

Featured Replies

I was watching Miracle today and was thinking about the greatest calls of all time. I would have to say that "Do you believe in miracles?" has to be the greatest call of all time. It's so pure and shows so much raw emotion. Another one of my favorites is "I don't believe what I just saw!" when Kirk Gibson hit the game winning home run in the WS. It may not be one of the best but it will remain one of my favorites. What other calls do you think deserve "Greatest of All- Time" status?

In that unbelievable half minute, broadcaster Herb Morrison suddenly found himself reporting the biggest story of his life -- and it was almost too much for him. His smooth delivery became a jumble of impressions as the emotions of the unfolding disaster took hold. “It’s burst into flames...get this, Charlie, get this, Charlie... Get out of the way, please, oh, my, this is terrible, oh, my, get out of the way, please! It is burning, burst into flames and is falling on the mooring mast and all the folks we...this is one of the worst catastrophes in the world!...Oh, it’s four or five hundred feet into the sky, it’s a terrific crash ladies and gentlemen...oh, the humanity and all the passengers!”

Can't find the quote of the call, but this is the game.

I still get chills everytime I hear the radio call of Paxson's 3 pointer in the 1993 finals. I kept listening to it the other day withmy Bulls Dynasty DVD.

I also like "The Giants win the Pennant!"

"Move over Big Mac, you've got company"

"A shot on elobe THE BULLS WIN"

"Mike Tyson has been knocked out".

For me, I think it's either the Al Michaels Miracle call or the one when Gibson comes off the bench and hits the HR to win.

If anyone has links to either can you post them?

Yes. Conspiracy theorists believe he actually re-recorded it back in the studio later. Compare that to the almost emotionless coverage of the second plane hitting the tower.

Lorn Brown,9/17/83.

"Here's the pitch to Baines.Swing and a fly ball,this should be it.Celter fielder's got it.Cruz's tag,...here's the throw,.....NOT IN TIME,SOX WIN!!!!!!!!

THE WHITE SOX HAVE WON THE 1983 AMERICAN LEAGUE WESTERN DIVISION TITLE!!!!!!"
