He has 7 homers this year in 283 AB.  Last year, he has 17 homers in 523 AB.  That's a significant decrease in homers/AB.  And yes, from all the games I've seen him play with Cubs and Red Sox, he was a bad fielder.

That would be about 12-13 homers over a full season, no?

And he also had 20 doubles, 37 last year, so basically on pace for the same number.

He's not bad defensively, either. I'd say average at second, slightly below average at third.

I don't post on here ever, but every single day for the last 2 years I have been on soxtalk reading up on posts. So many sox fans are worried right now and getting nervous. Guys any team right now would love to be in the position the Sox are in right now. Its the first slump of the year and people are panicing. The hitters are trying too hard. We all know were a better team then this and we will show it tomorow afternoon. We have to face the fact that were not trading for anybody. It is almost September. No one is coming here. This is the team we have and we are sticking with it. The offense will get it going. I had never been more dissapointed after watching the loss yesterday, but i cooled down and im over it now. We gotta have faith in this team. We are going to the playoffs. The indians or the twins aren't passing us, we are too good of a team and we have should that all season until about the last 2 weeks. This slump is over today vs. Randy Johnson. Lets get it going, and tomorow nite everyone on here will be happy. Sorry if i wasted peoples time whoever read this, but I had to just say how i felt. CHISOX IN 05!

I read your post and panicking by some is a true depiction of what has been happening. I don't think all of us were, but feeling uneasy for sure. This game isn't over yet, but I called this in yesterday's post when I said that today could be the day when our homeruns come against the fireballing lefty RJ.

Rather see Romero,Lohse, and "CY" Mays in Texas. We can't buy a hit against these clowns.

Anderson should be sent back down, and Gload should be called up.

When's the last time we called up someone from the minors who actually contributed?

Jenks

I think the kid Anderson was overmatched by this here Johnson guy. 3-2 count and you get caught looking at strike 3. Protect the plate youngster!

Jenks

Sorry, I should have stated on offense. It was very interesting to hear Walker basically ignore the question Bruce Levine had for him in regards to the long swings our guys have in the minors.

Offensively? Gload

Then on offense the only one i can think of is Rowand

I don't really consider him a minor league prospect we called up.

If Anderson got sent down I think Borchard should be called up instead. He has some ML experience and something to prove. Drop Ozuna or Perez and bring up Gload if you desire.

Just a suggestion: Crede should come in at 3b after this inning.

Iam thinking Contreras might go all the way today and give the pen a rest.
