August 23, 200520 yr I just saw on a blog that the Cubs have already announced who they are sending to the AFL. I can't find any info on Sox players who are going. Any guesses? I'd say Rogo Owens Young Tracey Haeger Haigwood Fields Liotta Gio are the possibilities. I suppose you could send Anderson, Bajenaru, Munoz, and Diaz again. Jenks would be eligible too. They can only send 6, and only one from below AA.

Reynoso, who is 4-3 with a 3.69 ERA in 50 games for Double-A Birmingham, requires permission to play in the AFL because he is a native of the Dominican Republic

I just thought maybe something like this would benefit a player like Wes Whisler; someone with untapped potential that could benefit from extra education, and have him develop for next year. The end of the season is not the end of the season, so to speak, for guys at the lower levels. A lot of them go to Instructional Leagues that offer the most one-on-one time with coaches... That being said, Wes needs to have the light go on for the mental aspect of pitching as much as anything else (repeating his mechanics wouldn't hurt either)...
August 27, 200520 yr From Chicagosports.com: Extra innings The Sox's participants in the Arizona Fall League will play for the Peoria Saguaros. Outfielder Ryan Sweeney, third baseman Josh Fields, shortstop Robert Valido and pitcher Sean Tracey will play for the team, although Sweeney is expected to be replaced by Chris Young because of a stretched ligament in his wrist. The Sox also are trying to add reliever Paulino Reynoso.
