October 3, 200520 yr Taking a swing Ron Kittle teamed with Mike Adamle on Sunday afternoon at WSCR, assessing the White Sox. Earlier, former Sox outfielder John Cangelosi did a stint on the air. WSCR has talked to Kittle and Cangelosi about the vacancy in the Sox's radio booth. The station is looking for a new analyst to join Ed Farmer in 2006. Though station officials didn't call it a tryout, obviously they want to hear how the two do behind the microphone. Kittle sounded good Sunday. You know Kittle will never be at a loss for words.
October 3, 200520 yr QUOTE(bighurt2719 @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 10:07 AM) hey, how about beltin' bill melton? No. Too dry. We need someone to offset the moribound Farmer.
October 3, 200520 yr hey, how about beltin' bill melton? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good heavens no. We don't need somebody who will yell about how this isn't Reinsdorf's fault after each dropped fly ball or bad at-bat. I'd personally like to see Farmer-DJ, with DJ as PBP, but since Farmer is being "promoted" that won't happen. Kittle would be interesting.
October 3, 200520 yr QUOTE(JoshPR @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 08:34 AM) Black Jack McDowell he was on Chet Kopik last night and said he would not be interested in doing radio or TV. He said when he does come back to the game it will be to coach. He also had some great insight into the upcoming series and how Ozzie will not panic and so forth. He gave a lot of props to the Sox.
October 4, 200520 yr Hmmmm Mike North thinks he might get the job.. LOL I'm not saying, I'm just sayin...
October 4, 200520 yr QUOTE(JoshPR @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 10:34 AM) Black Jack McDowell I thought Black Jack was awesome when he was filling in for Hawk earlier this year. I'd take him in a second. Doubt it'll happen though. I actually think I'll be satisfied as long as it isn't Mike North. Edited October 4, 200520 yr by KevHead0881
October 4, 200520 yr I have a real problem with inexperienced people in the radio booth. TV is one thing because you can at least see what is happening. Maybe I'm just bitter over losing John Rooney, but it would be so typical for the Sox and the Score to hire someone cheap along a play-by-play guy who in the process of ralking insessantly, describes very little.
October 4, 200520 yr Black Jack would be really good as would Torborg. He knows his stuff. Not sure if he'd want to take the job-I have no idea what kind of money the Score wants to offer
October 6, 200520 yr Author An interesting bit in the Trib today... Could it mean something? LET THE RUMOR MILL BEGIN CHURNING!!! Steve Stone, who pitched for the White Sox in the 1970s, chatted on the field with Sox chairman and longtime friend Jerry Reinsdorf before Wednesday night's Game 2. Stone, who left the Cubs broadcast booth after the 2004 season, said, "This certainly has been a different kind of year for me." Stone is as a baseball analyst for WSCR and assorted games on ESPN.
October 6, 200520 yr Stone, McDowell or Torborg would all be absolutely fine with me. Wills would not, but I'd still listen on occasion. North would prevent my radio from ever tuning to a Sox game.
October 6, 200520 yr Don't count Rooney out. The fat lady is on standby... but she hasn't started warming up.

October 6, 200520 yr Author QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 11:16 AM) That ghonnerea test came back negative??? Not exactly... the test came back positive, but the fact he hasn't had sex in 20 years means he doesn't have to tell anyone about it.
October 6, 200520 yr Hmmm.....I wouldn't expect such SMART people to have such trouble with the concept of replying to quotes. - the above reply - the reply above that one
October 6, 200520 yr QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 11:11 AM) Don't count Rooney out. The fat lady is on standby... but she hasn't started warming up. are you serious? I thought he was pretty much going to do the Angels TV! Oh man that would be awesome.
October 6, 200520 yr Yeah, even Farmer asked him a few times if they might run across each other next year while on the road. Sure sounded to me like Rooney was gone.
