Riddle me this Trent Yawney

Featured Replies

"We had our chances," Chicago coach Trent Yawney told AP. "Their goalie played very well. If he had just an average night, it's probably a different game."

The Blackhawks have lost two in a row and are 0-1 so far on this four game road trip.

"It was our best game of the year by a lot," Yawney told AP. "It depends what your definition of success is. You've got to remember where we've been and where we're going. But it was a good start."

How do you get blown out 4-1 and play s***ty defense and say it was your best game of the year?

If thats the best they can play......................

Another yes man hired by the organ-i-zation to toe the party line. The last guy the Slackhawks had working for them that had a mind of his own was Mike Kennan and we all saw what happened to him. Its also no co-incidence that it was under his leadership that they came within sniffing distance of the Stanley Cup.

Are you serious? I'll place a hefty wager on this, if you like.

They would at least keep him a full season.

GMAB. It's four games into the season.

Over and over and over and over. We get the f***ing point.

Yeah right, a yes man who happened to be one of the better minor league coaches right? You guys are pathetic, we're 1/20th into the season and we're ready to fire the coach...

Dollar Bill wrenched open his purse strings and now sees that his hard earned money is going to be wasted?

I'm not a betting man, but Yawney will be the scapegoat if this team doesn't make the playoffs.

Wrenched open the purse strings?

Their payroll in the last active season was 44 million. This years payroll is 28 million while tickets and concessions remain unchanged.

s***bags like Wirtz cost the sport a season to serve their own greedy ends.

Oh, I'm sorry.

I missed the green in part of that.

I'll fix it now.

I thought that was an odd statement.

I think I get what he was trying to say, that they played better as a team, made fewer mistakes or whatever, but to say a 3-goal loss was your best game of the season so far just sounds weird.

Maybe that has something to do with a thing called the Salary Cap?

No way Yawney gets canned. Would you prefer Brian "How many times can I punch Tyler Arnason because he's younger than 30" Sutter back?

Read the last line of the post you quoted. Bill Wirtz helped cost the sport a whole season so he could get the salary cap you mentioned.

So were you in favor of the likes of Alexei Yashin still getting huge contracts when they don't deserve it? The financial future of all of the NHL teams is a lot more rosier now with the salary cap.

Poor coaching tonite factored into the loss. The team was stupid tonite, period.

No, "Dollar Bill" should spend a ga-bajillion dollars on his roster! Who cares about the cap! Blah blah blah, yada yad yada!

How did Khabi look? Not the greatest start for him, but hopefully he'll pick it up. Vancouver away would be one of the hardest road trips in Hockey though. Vorobiev looks like a keeper though, 2 more points tonight.

this team is slow, lazy, and most of all- stupid. if you don't want to look at the box score from tonight, i'll summarize it for you right here- blackhawk penalty, blackhawk penalty, cannuck goal, blackhawk penalty, blackhawk penalty..........

Here's the deal, the Hawks got screwed on some penalty calls. BUT they didnt helpp their own cause by taking a few dumb ones. Vorobiev looked good on O, but let his man go wide open to the net and Ohlund scored. They weren't that lazy, it was just a case of the same guys being out there on special teams and they were fatigues. Khabibulin looked average, but that's not good enough for what we paid him for. All the goals were good goals, but for a franchise goalie, I expect some great saves or something. In all, penalties killed the Hawks tonight.

From what I've read on BHZ our defensive coverage in our own zone is killing us right now. Add that to no Ruutu (he's got back problems) and no Daizy, suddenly we're not that deep in the forwards and when the d-men aren't contributing like they should, you're gonna have some problems.

On Vorobiev though, his play really makes me wanna get Yakubov back over from Russia. Hopefully he does come back at some point in the future though.

At least we're pretty loaded with in prospects from the 2004 draft though. Dave Bolland looks like a keeper.

I didn't see the game tonight as i had hockey practice, but i noticed that we had 5 hooking calls. 5. Learn the f***ing rules, and stop using your stick to catch up to a guy in the neutral zone or what not. My God. This isn't hard, they've called it on you every time. STOP IT. You can't win games going on the PK 10 times. Unbelievable.

All the stupid penalties are killing this team. Foley was saying the Hawks lead the NHL in penalties and you sure as hell can't win games being on the PK all the time.

The Hawks really need to start assuming that Daze won't play, and adjust to the situation if he's there. Back problems never completely go away, and hockey has got to be harder on a bad back than most other sports.

I'd say several of the goals should lie on the shoulders of the defenseman.

And, Duncan Keith isn't playing very well right now either. He tried to clear one off of a Khabi save, and the 'Nucks d-man knocked the puck down (still in the zone) -- Jovanoski (sp?), I think it was -- he sent it back down towards the net and they scored again (not off of his shot, he passed it).

OTOH, I will say this -- Brent Seabrook right now has played like the best defenseman. He's made some mistakes, but he's physically ready, and he's playing confidently. I'm glad he's on the big club, and he should dress every single night -- and, if that means that slowass Todd Simpson needs to sit in the pressbox, so beit.

Yeah, the same cap that he helped get a whole season cancelled in order to get put in place. I cant believe how people like you can support a man who cares nothing about the fans and everything about his wallet. I think your loyalty for a team which season after season is built for mediocracy at best is really hilarious.
