Scioscia showed class

Watching the post game interview I was so impressed with Scioscia. That was one classy interview, protecting the integrity of the game, and defining what sportsmanship should be.

:notworthy

Agreed.

I didn't care too much for Scioscia after that Pine Tar incident. After last night, I gained back all the respect I once had for him.

I will echo the compliments towards Scioscia. I didn't care much for him, but after watching his post game comments, he took that with class.

I'm trying to imagine the Ozzie press conference if this had gone against the Sox....heh.....

I started to go there and stopped. I fear Ozzie would have reacted more like a fan.

Without searching for every instance, IIRC, most of Oz's controversial comments have come off the cuff and away from official news conferences. He may have handled this with the same class that Scioscia showed. Especially if he had a few minutes to prepare. On the other hand, I wonder of the reporters, who didn't seem to be on their game as it was, would have asked questions designed to set Oz off.

I was impressed with Scioscia as well....he kept it together.

Erstad also had a great attitude after the game saying: (paraphrasing here) That's part of baseball. The players, the managers, the coaches, the umps, the fans. It's all just part of the game. We'll try and get em Friday. He also commented with regards to them being tired saying: We're fine. That's just something for you writers to write about. Do we not want to get up sometimes?? yeah, but who doesn't. We're certainly not going to complain about it...everyone has to wake up for work. That's life. We do it all year long...so it' doesn't even phase us.

I loved hearing this cause I was so sick of hearing about poor anaheim they are like walking zombies. blah blah blah. Finley said Tuesday when asked if he was tired...hey, I got my 8 hours sleep so I'm fine. The only people making a big deal about this were the media and I thought it was playing right in to anaheims hands. Giving them the motivation to overcome all the naysayers when they really weren't in a "bad" position in the first place.

I thought in the press confrence he did ok, but on the field he blew it for his team. Reminded me alot of Dusty Baker when the cubs had the whole bartman thing.

He should of argued his point, than he should of had a infield meeting with his players and calmed them down and got there heads back in the game. Instead they were all screaming and throwing fits even after the game was over.

Mike did take it pretty well, although when the umps were explaining the situation to him, he had a look in his eye the same as that of a child who's teddy bear had just been snatched away.

"Where's..... where's teddy.....?"

Poor guy :P

Excellent point about Soscia.

Another manager might have ripped the umps, cried and played victim. Instead, he put the blame and challenge back onto his players. They didn't play well enough to overcome one controversial play, fact.

This is part of why game 3 scares the hell out of me. Like I've said before, the post season is largely about mental toughness and momentum. They lost a heartbreaker in game 2, their manager challenges them, they get to go home, rest and put their ace on the hill in game 3. We played like crap for 2 games at home and squeak one out in game 2.

Who do you think will come out with guns blazing Friday?

Screw him! I'm still pissed at him for leaving Frank off the 2003 All Star team!

good interview, hes classy :D
