Magloire Traded To Milwaukee

Bucks: Mason shipped to Hornets for Magloire

The Bucks have agreed to trade swingman Desmond Mason, it's 2006 first-round pick and cash to the Hornets for center Jamaal Magloire, according to ESPN. The trade will be announced later today and it gives the Bucks the physical post presence they felt they lacked.

Our View

This move obviously changes expectations for a number of players. The Hornets had few notable offensive options with guard J.R. Smith leading the way. This gives them another slasher who can get to the hoop and create plays on the offensive side of the ball. They'll look to veteran P.J. Brown and Maciej Lampe to pick up minutes at center with Magloire's departure. It gives the Bucks someone to mentor rookie Andrew Bogut, more strength in the low post game, and allows forward Bobby Simmons to take on a greater role in the offense. For fantasy owners looking to revise their player rankings, downgrade Bogut and Magloire and move Simmons and Mason up.

I think Milwaukee got ripped off. Desmond Mason and a 1st rd pick are worth way more than Jamal Magloire

I like Mason too. He's one of the truly unsung perimiter defenders in this league, kinda like Eric Williams or Tony Allen. He'd have been one hell of a 6th man this year for the Bucks.

Seriously though, Magloire is an absolute terror on the boards when healthy. And that 2006 1st Round Pick ain't gonna mean s*** when they win 45+ games. The Bucks pulled off a heist today.

So will Bogut be playing some PF with Magloire at C?

Well, both Dan Gadzuric and Andrew Bogut are completely incapable of playing any PF because their feet are so slow. Think Rasho Nesterovic or Joe Przybilla type feet. I've been reading that Bogut may very well get some minutes there, but if I were the coach, there would be no freaking way. That's just borderline retarded in my basketball world.

Remember, Gadzuric will be getting plenty of minutes at C with that questionable contract he received this past offseason. The Bucks are an incredibly stupid organization, make no mistake about it.

I see Magloire and Joe Smith manning the 4 in the majority of cases. The Bucks are surprisingly deep in the frontcourt as of now in terms of scoring and rebounding, but they're clearly lacking in terms of defense. When you have slow feet, you're getting f***ed over left and right. They're gonna get obliterated in the playoffs.

Great move by the Bucks if you ask me. Magloire, when healthy, is a near upper echelon big man and will join a pretty good group including the likes of Bogut and Gadzuric plus you have Michael Redd, Bobby Simmons, and TJ Ford (who should be 100%).

The Bucks are big time sleepers in the East and are much improved.

Everyone adds "when healthy" next to Magloires name.

I think Bogut might move to the 4 spot depending on matchups. Bogut has a perimeter game unlike Magloire who's strictly inside. Think of them as two big men instead of PF and C's.

His career thus far:

2000-01 74 GAMES

2001-02 82 GAMES

2002-03 82 GAMES

2003-04 82 GAMES

2004-05 23 GAMES

An injury-prone player? Sort of, but you could say the same for a s***load of big-name players in this league. Fact is, Magloire is an impact big man on both ends of the court. He was originally thought of as moreso of a defensive specialist, but his post game has really developed over the past couple of years. He's worth a heck of a lot more than Desmond Mason and a mid first round pick.

And as I stated before, I really like Desmond Mason. He's on my Top 15 Perimiter/Mid-Range Defenders List with Tayshaun Prince, Ron Artest, Josh Smith, Andrei Kirilenko, Tony Allen, Mikael Pietrus, Danny Granger, Trenton Hassell, Eric Williams, Andre Iguodala, Bruce Bowen, Caron Butler, Gerald Wallace, and James Posey.

But make no mistake about it, Milwaukee is now much better with Magloire than they were with Mason. They wouldn't have the team defense necessary to advance in the playoffs under either scenario, however.

We're gonna see just how much of a defensive liability he is at the 4. I've read the same crap about him getting minutes out of that slot. PFs are supposed to be bangers and rebounders, not candy-ass slow-footed motherf***ers with a "perimiter game". That sounds like some Supersonics type horses*** to me, but whatever floats their boat.

Wow maybe the Hornets should have taken those Raptors 2 1st rounders when they had the chance.

Desmond Mason's a damn nice player, but Magliore's worth a lot more that what Milwaulkee gave up for him. They could be a top 4 team in my mind now in the East, depending if T.J Ford can stay healthy.

I agree completely.

A solid big man like him is much more valuable.

Yep, the Bucks got better by picking up Magloire. I have doubts in Bogut right now.
