Replica ring rumor

Featured Replies

So this dude told me he heard the replica rings will be given to the fans on may 19th....against the cubs.

IF thats ture, that's really mean.

I'll enjoy the laugh but mean nonetheless.

Works for me!!!! Although, I don't think they'll give anything away that can be thrown on the field.

Speaking of rings...

The ticket rep we get our group tickets through said that he gets a ring? He said all the full time employees do. I find that kinda hard to believe , but I guess it's possible. Can anyone confirm? Steff?

I wouldn't be surprised. Everyone who ever said the word "Red Sox" got one last year.

I know they do. At least if they are like any other "major" sport.

When a team has a rediculous WS drought like the White Sox have and you have a genorous owner like JR, you'll see things like this happen.

The Janitors recieved rings last year when the BoSox won, I don't doubt that a full-time employee like a ticket rep would recieve one.

For most sports a ton of people get them, i think baseball is the most generous...

but i think, not 100% sure, that there's two types often. One is for players and main on field personel that is fully blinged out, then the second is still nice and expensive, just not as lavish, and that's for a lot of the other staff

The Players and major members of the front office usually get the $10K/a piece rings while the fulltime employees get cheaper versions.

Our guy is getting one, but he's a corporate rep and been with the Sox 10+ years. OT... Finny is back with the Sox and she is getting one.

Why would it be mean? We are celebrating our Championship and happen to give out rings on the same day we play the cubs? I don't see anything mean about that. :D

So does that mean Hawk and DJ got rings?

I don't like this idea - giving them out on that day means a lot of Cub fans would get replica rings too, right?

Yes.

That's cool. I didn't know. But I figured it might be so, because my grandfather was actually groundskeeper at Bush Stadium back when the Cards won the WS in, I believe '82. I figure if the groundskeepr, janitor, etc. can get one, the commentators got a shot, right? XD

I think this rumor is about as close to true as the parade down Western Avenue..

This rumor is false. I would imagine season ticketholders will get a replica ring or a mini world series trophy or something of the sort. I received them with the Bulls championships.

that may have been true for one of the seasons, but I know for a fact that I got a Bulls replica championship ring at a game for a giveaway. Ive never been a Bulls season ticketholder, and I wouldnt be surprised at all if Reinsdorf did the same thing for the Sox.....doubtful against the Cubs though. I don't see why people think this is some HUGE stretch, I dont know many teams that dont giveaway replica championship rings.

They may give out some sort of replica ring, but you can bet the ranch it won't be given out at a game against the Cubs.

Why not give them out at a game against the D-Rays or someone like that, from a cash perspective.

You mean the Sox players WEREN'T in those cars I watched roll down Western???

WTF????

:P :D

My guess is that they will do a giveaway but it will be done earlier in the year, using it to draw people to the park. Despite the WS win, I don't think next year will be all sellouts, so this kind of giveaway could help secure one one a date that otherwise may not.

Exactly---if this is true it's a terrible idea.

If Cub fans get their grubby hands on those replica rings, they'll treat them like opponets home runs at Wrigley and throw them all over the field. I don't think the Sox will be that stupid.
