November 16, 200520 yr KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- NFL owners voted Wednesday to tentatively award Kansas City a Super Bowl, largely as a tribute to owner Lamar Hunt, who gave the game its name. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...5111601522.html
November 17, 200520 yr I read this earlier today, and it must be noted for people that don't read the article, KC needs a roof on the stadium that they build for them to be awarded a SB.
November 17, 200520 yr Roof, no roof. It still sucks to have a Superbowl in a city where its ten degrees
November 17, 200520 yr QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 07:48 PM) Roof, no roof. It still sucks to have a Superbowl in a city where its ten degrees just like detroit this year
November 19, 200520 yr QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 09:01 PM) Its BS, they should be able to play in the elements. The players could handle the elements. The corporate bobos who foot the bills? Not so much.
November 20, 200520 yr QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 06:48 PM) Roof, no roof. It still sucks to have a Superbowl in a city where its ten degrees Oh come on, if New York is awarded a Super Bowl, Kansas City and also. Football is supposed to be play in the cold. Even though they have to have a roof plus a lot of renovations, it'd be an awesome place to have a Super Bowl.
November 20, 200520 yr QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 02:45 PM) This could quite possibly be the biggest thing to happen in Kansas City ever. That and the Royals winning the World Series against the Cardinals in 1985.
November 20, 200520 yr By this standard, why not put a roof over the stadium and a superbowl in the two best football cities in Green Bay and Chicago.
November 20, 200520 yr QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 03:26 PM) By this standard, why not put a roof over the stadium and a superbowl in the two best football cities in Green Bay and Chicago. haha since when was Chicago and best football city included in the same sentence. jk The reason why Kansas City is going to get a Super Bowl is because the NFL is rewarding Lamar Hunt for his achievements in the AFL and the NFL.
November 20, 200520 yr Super Bowl in Green Bay? How great would a Tampa Bay - San Diego superbowl be there?
November 20, 200520 yr QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 01:52 PM) Super Bowl in Green Bay? How great would a Tampa Bay - San Diego superbowl be there? I'd love a super bowl in places like Green Bay and Chicago. Its a travesty the NFL are a bunch of sissies (the execs and all the corporate sponsors) because not having super bowls in two historic NFL cities (and two of the best NFL cities bar none) is pathetic. Who said the super bowl can't be played in the element, teams have to battle the elements all season and if a team is built around playing in the cold (like the Bears and Pack typically are) they should be rewarded and given an opportunity to stay there, not to play in some sissy ass dome (I think domes should be outlawed in football).
November 21, 200520 yr QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 10:01 PM) Its BS, they should be able to play in the elements. Exactly. this warm-weather Super Bowl s*** takes away from the nitty-gritty charachteristics of football. Have a Super Bowl here in Soldier Field one year...
