I think their first album is amazing, even the US version (that's the one with "Jail Guitar Doors" for crying out loud!). I just don't think they were as great a band as they are made out to be. Hell, they aren't even the best band out of the 70's UK scene. I'll take The Damned, Chelsea, and Generation X to name a few, over them any day. But I DO like them a bunch. Rancid was my first love and remains to this day my favorite band. I've listened to the entire "Let's Go" album about 4 times over the past week in my car. If it weren't for the Clash, Tim Armstrong may have never of been able to capture the sound that he has with Rancid and I may never have become completely obsessed with this band. So for that I am forever greatful to the Clash.
November 21, 200520 yr I've been finding myself particularly haunted by "In The Aeroplane Over The Sea" by Neutral Milk Hotel as of late. And "Kiss, Kiss, Kiss" by Yoko Ono. I'd forgotten that a lot of the music she made in the Double Fantasy - It's Alright period was some of the best new wave out in the early 1980s. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yoko sucks!

November 21, 200520 yr I've been really digging Temple of the Dog a lot over the past week or two, and especially "Say Hello 2 Heaven." It just feels like you can sense Cornell's grief toward the loss of his friend in the song, and it comes off as somewhat magical. Well, atleast to me anyways. Not sure it's one of the greatest songs ever...but I happen to like it a lot.
