November 26, 200520 yr anyone remember this ill-advised marketing scheme taken on by the white sox after the 1983 season? 1984 was all about 'let's do it again' and chubby checker. *shudder* let's be thankful we have a solid marketing team in place (brooks is the man) and we'll be spared a summer of listening to a horridly bad jingle that's stuck with me for more than 20 years. damn you chubby checker.

November 27, 200520 yr QUOTE(thedoctor @ Nov 26, 2005 -> 06:19 PM) anyone remember this ill-advised marketing scheme taken on by the white sox after the 1983 season? 1984 was all about 'let's do it again' and chubby checker. *shudder* let's be thankful we have a solid marketing team in place (brooks is the man) and we'll be spared a summer of listening to a horridly bad jingle that's stuck with me for more than 20 years. damn you chubby checker. How about... SOXFEST! BASEBALL'S BEST!
November 28, 200520 yr I've always thought the White Sox have had good advertising. Of recent years, I've liked the "Konerko on Chemistry" ad as well as the one that ran to welcome Freddy Garcia. Seeing as how "Let's do it again!" didn't really pan out all that well, I'd like to see it remain in the archives. About the only thing I don't care for that Brooks has done is institute a basketball-style introduction. I find it particularly ironic because we had such a strong team concept, whole-is-greater-than-the-sum-of-its-parts this year. I think introducing players this way is best suited to moneyballers like the Yankees or Mets.
