November 29, 200520 yr QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 05:48 PM) Wow, good discussion. Thanks, everyone. A few points: 4. Blondie? C'mon, now. They were a construct of Andy Warhol, they didn't last very long, and one of their biggest hits was Debby Harry rapping (and I use that term unbelievably loosely) nonsense. "All they do is eat guitars"? Please. If Blondie's good enough, Yoko oughta join next. And that's not in green.
November 29, 200520 yr QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) Wow, good discussion. Thanks, everyone. A few points: 1. I'm pretty sure that Rush just became eligible this year or last. I certainly could be wrong about that, though. I think they're in soon, maybe the next couple of years. Rush has been around for about 30+ years, I think their eligible. The rule is a certain time from 1st album, right? I'm not too sure, I just know they have been around LONGER than the Sex Pistols and Blondie. I am just using Rush as an example, BTW. The fact that they had the success they did, plus are probably one of (if not THE) most successful bands out of Canada, plus they were one of the biggest of the 70's, PERIOD, they should be in there. Also, where's Cheap Trick? Kind of kidding with that. I love 'em to death, but I am not so sure of their overall worth to the music world. The Cars should be in there though, without a doubt.

November 30, 200520 yr I never would have thought I'd say this but her work on Double Fantasy, Season of Glass, It's Alright and Milk and Honey turned out to be extremely influential with underground and alternative bands. Sonic Youth, Yo La Tengo, The Breeders all took pieces. Among others. Her work, although inconsistent, is hugely important for New Wave and beyond.
