For you "Who People"

The Who will launch a world tour this summer that will bring the band to North America for its first extended trek in nearly four years. "We plan to visit the USA, Europe, Japan, Australia and also South America," manager Bill Curbishley says.

The group -- which now consists of Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend backed by bassist Pino Palladino, keyboardist John "Rabbit" Bundrick, drummer Zak Starkey and guitarist (and Pete's brother) Simon Townshend -- was forced to take a hiatus in 2005 due to Starkey's touring commitments with Oasis and Palladino's stint with the John Mayer Trio.

"

I don't want to stop, and I don't think Pete does," frontman Roger Daltrey told Rolling Stone in the fall. The Who have been working on a new album, Who2, on and off for the past decade and are scheduled to go back into the studio in February. There's no word on whether the summer tour will feature new songs, but in March guitarist Pete Townshend posted in his online diary,

"I feel I can't tour any more with the Who without a new record."

....have fun at the show and please don't feel obligated to tell me about it....

:D

I am sooooo there! :headbang

Ringo's kid is a damn good drummer.

I'd love to see the Who, but sadly there's only so much money, and they're just not high enough on the list. God I hope U2 Does another tour leg in the spring, now that the Fiance is employed and i have a small amount of disposable income.

My buddy always said that The Who went on tour when Roger Daltry ran out of money, LOL.

I love the Townsend/Daltrey/Entwistle/Moon Who. I respected the Townsend/Daltrey/Entwhstle/Jones Who. I accepted the one-off gigs and was happy for them with their success on the Tommy Revival.

That said, they should have called it a career as anything with 'Who' in their name after John Entwhistle died.

you mean roger daltry and pete townshend...

not the who.

i should've read what you wrote, my sentiments exactly...all the best musicians are gone from that band...townshend was a great composer but entwhistle and moon were incredible at their instruments

Townsend is a legendary guitarist. He's in the same class as Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Mick Taylor, Peter Green, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, George Harrison, etc.

He is my personal favorite from that bunch. Like I said in another thread, there are a good 25 to 30 soundboard concerts from 1968 to 1975 where his legendary guitar is on display. Get you some. :D

The voice is also an instrument, correct? Roger Daltrey was always one of the elite singers in classic rock IMO.

townshend is a great guitarist ... but technically speaking is not that elite...same with gilmour ...he's no where near the levels of those around him in your list. He was very innovative, yes. BUt he was the best as a composer and songwriter...

but moon and entwhistle were technically some of my favorites ever. Entwhistle was amazing at bass.
