Sporting News Baseball Yearbook

Featured Replies

not that media hype wins any game, but the sporting news yearbook believes the Sox were not a fluke.

They're ranked Number One in the overall mlb powerpoll.

Yankees are second, Cleveland fifth, Angels sixth, A's seventh, Blue Jays eight and Red Sox tenth, so it's tilted toward the AL.

Six of their eight guys predict the Sox to win the Central, one has them winning the wildcard, one doesn't have them making the playoffs.

And of the six that pick them to win the division, three have the Sox winning the World Series again.

quite a change from last year.

still some digs. One guy says Konerko is the most overrated player in the game.

A lot of people on White Sox boards have said a LOT worse than that about Paulie.

I'm sure he loses zero sleep over it.

Konerko was, before last october, the most underrated guy with 40+ home runs 2 years in a row IMO. If he's overrated...it's only because his october was THAT DAMN GOOD. And he gets a nice shiny ring out of it.

Hell, two years ago, most on here would have traded Paulie for a bag of batting practice balls.

just one guy ragged on PK.

another went with my choice -- Derek Jeter.

Is it out on News stands yet? And by the year book, you mean the one with all the team previews and projected line-ups and things like that, right?

I only ask because usually SN is out after Athlon, Lindy's and the other ones. I have yet to see any at the local shops.

Appearantly a lot of you don't remember the beginning of last year when Konerko hit .218 in April and .227 in May and a lot of us on this board were looking for other options at 1B.

yep it is on the newsstand.

the fantasy guide has been out for several weeks.

this is the regular preview.

It's improved. About six pages on each team, with a rating for the starters.

I believe Scot gregor of the Daily Herald wrote the Sox preview

There is a nice picture of Buehrle and Garland preceding the AL preview

Nice not to see Mussina or ARod or Varitek or Manny jammed down our throats FOR ONCE.

lol

there is another Sox board where the morons that run it consider Konerko to be a club house cancer, Ozzie to be a manager who can't win and Garland a bust.
