February 11, 200620 yr Not that he really has a say in it, but Elway thinks it is a bad idea: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2326933 While Mike Shanahan continues to entertain the thought of adding wide receiver Terrell Owens to the Denver offense, the greatest Bronco of them all has spoken out against T.O. "I think there are a lot of things about T.O. that none of us really knows, but obviously he can ruin a football team," Hall of Famer quarterback John Elway told the Denver Post on Friday evening. "If it were up to me I would say no. I think the Broncos are close enough anyway, and they don't need a guy who's too much of a risk. "The Broncos have a great locker room right now; they have a lot of good leaders in there. To have somebody come in who's worried about himself and not worried about what the team is worried about, I wouldn't do it." Elway is the latest among former Broncos, including Terrell Davis and Shannon Sharpe, to voice their anti-T.O. sentiment. Panthers owner Jerry Richardson doesn't even think the subject would reach his ears. "Well, first off, I don't think they'd [coach John Fox and general manager Marty Hurney] ask," Richardson told the Charlotte Observer. The Kansas City Chiefs, however, have had some internal discussion about the receiver, but the parties haven't met. "We haven't heard from his agent at this point in time," Edwards told The Kansas City Star. "I haven't heard from Terrell. If I do have a conversation with Terrell Owens, obviously everyone will know about it, and if it would come to fruition that he was here, then obviously you'd get to talk to him, too. But at this point, he's not here, and I haven't talked to him." Asked whether the ball is in Owens' court, Edwards told The Star, "We're not calling anybody. We're just kind of sitting." Owens, who has disparaged his quarterbacks in San Francisco and Philadelphia, is expected to be released in March, when he's due a total of $7.5 million in bonuses. My curiosity with T.O. is piqued now. I am wondering what team will take him on, because I dont see a serious contender risking chemistry with him, and I also dont see T.O. taking a lesser contract to play with a team like KC, who might or might not be playoff bound(their offense is great, but that defense is just godawful). And if he ends up going home to Atlanta to play with Vick, I just see disaster written all over it, Vick just doesnt have the accuracy to please T.O. Thoughts?
February 11, 200620 yr The Broncos don't need him. If they feel they need another WR, then they should play David Terrell a little more.
February 11, 200620 yr Unfortunately, he'll end up with somebody. The overall talent will be too much for some dumb team to pass up.
February 11, 200620 yr Some desperate team should sign both Ryan Leaf and TO. I'd buy a ticket just to watch the sideline.
February 11, 200620 yr Author QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) The Broncos don't need him. If they feel they need another WR, then they should play David Terrell a little more. LOL, please explain this nonsense.
February 11, 200620 yr I know its crazy. There are people on the Broncos message boards that believe David Terrell will still become a very good reciever, I don't see it at all. Now John, Sharpe, and TD have all come out against TO which is interesting. I think Shanahan might still do it if the trade talks for Ricky Williams don't get very far. With Reggie Wayne being franchised and a #2 at best receiver like Randle El getting $12 million in bonus money, Owens oddly becomes mroe appealing
February 12, 200620 yr LOL, please explain this nonsense. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He didn't play much this year w/ the Broncos.
February 12, 200620 yr QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 06:15 PM) He didn't play much this year w/ the Broncos. He didn't play at all because he sucks at life.
February 12, 200620 yr Author QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 07:15 PM) He didn't play much this year w/ the Broncos. there was a reason for that. There was also a reason he was cut from the Patriots at the beginning of last year. If the Broncos felt they could bolster their WR depth by playing him more, than they would have.
February 12, 200620 yr Exactly. Whether Denver says they like him or if Terrell feels he will get a shot, their actions speak louder as Charlie Adams and Todd Bel Viv Devoe were chosen for active duty instead of him
February 12, 200620 yr QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 07:33 AM) Some desperate team should sign both Ryan Leaf and TO. I'd buy a ticket just to watch the sideline. Too bad Bronco Billy still ain't in charge in Denver isn't it.
