A Fifth of Beethoven

Featured Replies

My employer has a big party for her birthday/company anniversay every year on April 1st. This year, she turns 50 and it falls on a Saturday. The theme is Studio 50.

I edit a video using all of our work from the previous year and need some help in choosing a disco song to go with the theme. I know a lot of disco songs, but what I am looking for is something that is upbeat, that is known, but not widely known.

Examples of what I am NOT looking for are "Stayin' Alive," actually, pretty much anything from the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack.

Lookin' for something kind of like "A Fifth of Beethoven." Different, not necessarily Billboard Top 10 material, but something that, when you hear it, you would go, oh yeah, I know that song.

As an aside, since I will have to hear this song quite a bit during editing, please pray that I don't stick a sharp object into my ears.

Maybe something by Average White Band.

Here are some ideas from a website I just found:

The Hustle - Van McCoy

Love's Theme - Love Unlimited Orchestra

Feels So Good - Chuck Mangione

Rise - Herb Alpert

Popcorn - Hot Butter

That's all I can stand, so you're on your own..... :D

I have some of those. Feels So Good is too slow. The Hustle...well, I wouldn't listen to it with your ears. And Popcorn would probably drive people away, but that's a good one and I totally forgot about it. Thanks.

How about 'Makin' it', I think it was David Naughton ?

It's sad to say, but I didn't need that link to remember the song.

Yes, but hopefully now it's stuck in everybody's head all day. . .

BWAAHAHAHA!!! :D

I don't think I've ever heard that song before. :huh

Bwahahahahaha!

The Star Wars disco album is pretty wild if you can get your hands on it.

Rise is great. You might also like TSOP by MFSB. Also, maybe something by the Salsoul Orchestra? "You're just the right size" perhaps? Although that's dirty.

Oooo, "Do It Anyway You Wanna" by the People's Choice or maybe some Tavares?

How about "Le Freak", it's that "AWWW, freak out" song.

or "I will Survive" the gay anthem by Gloria Gaynor.
