Your once again missing my point. When looking back on 05 in twenty years, Paul and Mark will be the faces of the team, as they are now.

And the point is?

Comparing the two is laughable, so I won't get into a phantom debate.  There is nothing to debate on this.

Oh, of course. That's the reason.

I agree 100%, bringing this up is pathedic

That Frank isnt the best thing to happen to White Sox baseball. 2005 was, and Mark and Paul had a MUCH bigger part to do with it.

great point right there

I guarantee I will think about Thomas, as will many fans. The first image that comes to mind is Frank with the trophy.

And YOU said it was all about the playoffs -- so why are Konerko and Buehrle the face of the team, not Contreras and Crede?

It's ironic that you think it is such a great point and your name, avatar, and sig all have MB in them. There's a non-biased opinion right there. :rolly

Beats the hell out of me. I just got my pocket scheduels from Grandstand yesturday, and Konerko is on the front of it. Last year it was Mark. You tell me???

Since when is the public opinion of a team in 20 years decided by who's face is on the cover of a pocket schedule???

Do you really think that Buehrle would ever be in the same situation as thomas? The answer is NO. There is no debating Buehrle and thomas. This has nothing to do with the ace. :bang

Individually, Frank is the best thing to happen to White Sox baseball. I don't think anybody is implying that he's bigger than the franchise. I think you're blinded by the championship. Konerko and Buehrle aren't somehow above Frank just because they happened to be on a team that won the World Series. That's ridiculous.

Are you kidding me?

Over the past decade Frank's off-the-field antics and big mouth have been the worst thing for the franchise. From his comments about Jackie Robinson to his doctor's note to now this. He is a prima donna and his personality is everything that is wrong with sports. You think it was a coincidence that the team meshed so well last year -- with out frank?

Yes I do think that one day Mark will be in the same situation as Thomas. He has already publically came out on multiple occassions and said he would like to play for the Saint Louis Cardinals. How many times has MB won 20 games? How many Cy Youngs does he have? Frank was a two-time MVP for us, I don't care what he says during this offseason, he is and always will be one of the greatest players in the history of the White Sox. Mark can never touch what Frank has done.

Well, last year they hadn't yet won the WS, so I guess that doesn't mean s***, right? But he was a stud in 2000.

How many World Championships was Mark invovled in? 1

How many did Thomas have anything to do with? 0

Its all about winning buddy, and Thomas never did that. Mark might go to the Cards sometime in his carrer, but he might not. I bet you if he does, he will not leave on the terms that Thomas did. He will handle it with class, that is a given

I didn't say it was. But we've had more talented teams that just never won. Happens all the time. Konerko can't touch Frank overall. Anybody who uses 2005 to dispute that has serious, serious problems.

The bottom line is this.

Frank Thomas got himself to this point.

He could have gone out quietly, holding the trophy, getting to throw out the first pitch, etc.

We've forgiven him in the past, however outlandish and childish his comments have been.

He CHOSE not to.

He started this immediately after signing with Oakland and it has continued up until now. That was over a month ago.

No White Sox fan can honestly say they don't like Frank Thomas the player. He is a legend. The absolute greatest White Sox player ever.

However, all of that aside, his behavior towards the organization is unnecessary and insulting. He is acting like a child.

Many who in the past saw past Frank's comments for whatever reason have grown tired of them. And this is the result.

So you're saying what Frank has said has been worse than William Ligue? Worse than the White-flag trade? Worse than the teams constant underachieving for 4 years up until 2005?

Frank Thomas's attitude is why the NBA has a dress code? Frank Thomas's attitude is why there was an NHL lockout? Maybe his poor attitude is also why college basketball coaches are covering up murders? Oh and maybe his attitude caused Jayson Williams to kill his limo driver? Maybe it even put Kobe over the edge and made him rape that woman. I'm even willing to wager that Frank being a prima donna is why Urbina slashed people, put gasoline on them, and then torched them? I'm pretty sure Ron Artest was so disappointed with Frank that he went into the stands in Detroit to beat some ass.

I always thought Ron Karkovice was the face of the organization.

I think that's kind of the point, last years team will be remember for the way they meshed and the type of individuals on the team. Carlos, Maggs, Jose, Frank all the guys that composed those talented teams were gone and they won it.

Dude, you've got issues. Way to take things out of context.

No, Frank never won a WS in his prime, but if I recall correctly, he was the only guy who hit for the Sox on the team in '93 that lost in the playoffs and he was the MVP in a strike shortened season in '94. Now no one knows how that team would have done, but Frank was on some good Sox teams in the '90s that just never got over the hump.

Also, let's not even discuss MB leaving. There is no way to tell how someone will handle a situation where they leave a team, and I hope it is a long, long time before we have to worry about it with MB.
