OFFICIAL Crazy Upsets Thread!!

Featured Replies

Ok, another idea. Post your crazy ass upsets here, and please nobody post their #9 beating #8 ideas.

Here are mine.....

1st Round: #12 Texas A&M over #5 Syracuse

#11 SIU over #6 West Virginia

#12 Kent State over #5 Pittsburgh

#15 Winthrop over #2 Tennessee (which leads Wichita St. to the S16)

#11 UWM over #6 Oklahoma

2nd Round: #6 Indiana over #3 Gonzaga

#7 Marquette over #2 UCLA

#7 Wichita State in S16 (by beating #15 Winthrop though)

#7 Georgetown over #2 Ohio State

Sweet 16: #4 LSU over #1 Duke

#6 Indiana to Elite 8 (by beating #7 Marquette though)

#4 Boston College over #1 Villanova

#7 Georgetown over #3 Florida

After that, I get boring, with no game in which I pick the underdog seed to win. Those aren't ALL crazy, but they are all significant upset picks based on seedings.

To many for me to list.

Haha I figured some would have too many to list. That's why I called it crazy upsets, just list the "crazy" ones. I don't have too many insane ones things year, although a G-Town/BC elite 8, Wichita State in the S16, and #15 Winthrop over #2 UT are out there.

My two huge ones in the first round are Winthrop and Xavier with the W's. I got a lot of upsets until the sweet 16 then it settles down a bit.

Iona, George Mason, and UWM. West Virginia to the Elite 8. KU over Memphis, UCLA to the finals. Indiana over Zaga. It's a very vanilla bracket.

UCLA to the finals.

Boo, I wanted to be the only one. :P

Marquette over UCLA in sweet 16, UMW over Oklahoma, Ohio St. over Villanova, Gonzaga over Memphis, NC State over Cal, SIU over West Virginia and Iowa, Mich St over UNC, Wichita State over Tennessee and Mich St. Illinois over Uconn

I agree with Heads here. Indy is going to beat the Zags. In fact, I think every Big Ten team minus Penn St., NU and Purdue would beat Gonzaga on a neutral court.

air force over their first round opponent.

Steve Lavin had it too, but he's just a bit biased.

There are some weird ones in here, so I don't feel so bad anymore.

I like a lot of the 11 seeds. I got SIU, San Diego State, and UW-Milwaukee in the second round, with San Diego State also taking down Gonzaga (yeah, I know, that's a bit of a stretch). I'm also sorely tempted to pick them to beat UCLA, but that is seriously pushing it.

I've got Kansas taking down Memphis and UCLA. I also have Florida in the Final Four. I guess those are only mild upsets.

I've got Wichita State over Tennessee.

I've got Georgetown over OSU.

I'm seriously considering taking GW over Duke. If I can get any indication that Mensah-Bonsu is even close to healty, I think I'm going to do it. If I don't I'll almost certainly have LSU taking them down.

I got Bradley over Kansas, SIU over WVU, and Winthrop over Tennessee in the first round. I just made the last one tonight, I had Wichita State beating the Vols in the second round so I am going with the Eagles in this one. They have been in the tourney many times, time for them to actually pull a win out of them.

I'm prob the only sonb**** dumb enough to have 2 Valley teams in the elite 8

The thread title said crazy upset...

What do you guys think of the 5-12 games? I know that a 12 wins virtually every year, but I don't see any that I like this year. The closest one I see is the Nevada game, but that's not really a good matchup for Montana. I'm really not a fan of Texas A&M, I don't see Pitt going down, and I don't think Utah State can keep up with Washington.

Is it just me, or are these games not quite as ripe for upset picks this year? For some reason I could see all of the 11's winning, but I don't really like the 12's.

I like USU and A&M.

A&M and Kent are the 12's to watch......A&M is talented and playing very well, and the Golden Flashes (who you will remember as the team that destroyed your bracket going to the elite 8 in 2002 with Antonio Gates) are a veteran team with the offensive firepower to score 60 points plus on Pittsburgh, and lord knows that's the kind of game Pittsburgh isn't a fan of. Utah State and Montana will both get blown out IMO.

It was 2002; IU played them to get into the FF during that run.

That's what I said, you clearly didn't read my post correctly ;).

I personally just can't pick A&M. They had one good game all year against Texas and that's pretty much it. Hell, their 2 wins against Baylor were by a combined 6 points. Jones and Law have some talent, but no one else impresses me.

I'll have to go back and look at Kent State. I thought they looked decent, but I like Pitt. I thought about Utah State, but I just don't think they can score enough to get by Washington.

I just added a new wrinkle to my bracket: Marquette in the Elite 8. One of those 7 through 10 seeds seems to make a ridiculous run almost every year, and I think that's the best spot to have it in. They matchup up pretty well with UCLA, and I already had San Diego State as the other Sweet 16 team. That's actually a worse matchup for them than Indiana or Gonzaga because of Slaughter and Abukar inside, but their guard play is a lot stronger, and Novak is a bit of a mismatch.

Utah State is a good team and they have a unique style of play. I don't think they deserved to make the tournament but they did and I think they will beat Washington who is a very weak 5 seed imo.
