Beat the Streak(White Sox version)

Featured Replies

RULES:

1. Before the White Sox games start, pick 1 player that you think will get a hit in the days game.

2. If that player gets a hit, your streak is at 1.

3. If your player does not get a hit, you start over at 0.

4. You are allowed to pick the same player everygame, or you can change every game.

5. At the end of the year, whoever has the longest streak wins.

Nice. This is one that you can jump into at any time since it's not a total points compilation, but it's longest streak. A total point compilation could done as well.

If you happen to miss one day, you can jump back in and your streak will still be alive

the contest....

I'm assuming that this is starting opening day? And is there going to be a seperate thread or is this one just going to be used?

So if a no hitter gets thrown against us then every one goes back to zero :lolhitting

That is assuming that they made a pick that day. So, can you deliberately not make a pick if they are going against someone like Johan Santana?

good point.....probably won't make a pick with dominating starters

Heres a rule I forgot to mention, you can only skip one game in a row without your streak going back to 0. So if you skip Santanas game thats fine, but then you have to pick the next day.

The record keeping seems monumental, have you thought about that?

It would help if I had some help from a mod or something.

We've got our plate full with the two current contests.

The only thing I could think of is have people check their own and at the end of the contest check who ever claims to be the winner. To me it seems like a gigantic season long head ache.

How about this variation. Start one now, everyone has to play every game beginning tomorrow. Last person standing wins. In other words if 25 people start the contest Tuesday take the ones that advance and move on with them. As soon as it gets to one player, start another contest.

Thats not a bad idea, but I think we have to wait a little longer because the contest is not very poplular right now as you can see, so once we get more members involved we can do that.

Perhaps if we have the rules finalized, we will have more members involved. Did you like that variation? It is basically a variation on the football winners pool idea. If so, why not pick a start date, perhaps Monday vs. the Tigers, we'll promote it hard all weekend, and see who gets involved? I don't want to take over your idea, I think it is a good one.

that sounds like a good idea, why dont you finalize the rules because it sounds like you know what your talking about with the football pool and stuff, then we will go from there.
