Cyclones now getting some better news....

Recommended Posts

It appears the only fallout from the Morgan firing might be, if we are lucky, losing P'Allen Stinnett.

- Johnson, 06-07 recruit, has recomitted his intentions to attend Iowa State next season.

-Tasheed Carr is still considering his options but is most likely returning next season.

-Taggart, Clark, and Degand have all comitted to staying next year.

-Westbrook, 06-07 recruit, is considering all options but is leaning towards being a Cyclone next season.

-Blalock and Stinson will meet with McDermott on Thursday. Stinson is now considering not hiring an agent so as to stay eligible for next season.

-P'Allen Stinnet will not be a Cyclone after all. He has been granted a release from his LOI and will attend a lesser school in the fall. McDermott has contacted Stinnet and extended an offer to come play for ISU if he so chooses at a later date.

The Blalock and Stinson things could be huge. I'd kill for them back....with solid coaching we could reach the NCAA's then.

Not getting my hopes up, but this guy that posted this has been accurate so far, and apparently has connections in the Dept.

Also, the more I hear about Johnson the better. Word is he's got a big body already, and could be similar to Greg Brunner with a better head of hair.

Just saying, the reason I am optimistic about Stinson returning was he was always the lower draft prospect of him and Blalock. With projections of him going in the late second round, there's a chance that he'd come back. Blalock sounds like he likes McDermott as well.

Heads, don't get your hopes up.  I honestly think both should and eventually will come back, but this team loves to f you over.

Not the team. The entire athletic department except for Jamie Pollard.

Heh....sounds like more good news....

Here is a roundup of the latest news/rumors:

Curtis Stinson is still mulling his options for next year.  He has decided to forgo hiring an agent and will wait to see where some of the later draft predictions have him going before deciding what to do next season.

Will Blalock has seen his stock fall a little bit in the latest mock drafts.  He is still expected to go somewhere in the second round.  There are no indications on what Will is setting at his make-or-break point for the draft.

P'Allen Stinnet will be going to a prep school in the fall to maintain his full eligibility for the following season.  There are indications that Stinnet could possibly join the Cyclone squad for the 2007-2008 season if some assistant coaching developments come to fruition.

Lawrence Westbrook has confirmed that he will be a Cyclone next season.

Cory Johnson has also confirmed his place on the team for the fall.

Jeremy Fears has all but ruled out transferring to Iowa State.  He is taking offers from other schools and there are indications that the new coaching staff at Iowa State is not actively pursuing him as an option.

Tasheed Carr is getting set to announce that he will most likely return to the roster for Iowa State.  Carr had a falling out with the prior coaching staff but has found some comfort in the new staff.

Gregg McDermott looks to be contacting some assistants at some bigger programs to take at least one of the two remaining spots on the bench at Iowa State.  Indications are that McDermott has filled one of the two spots, but there are no indications at this time on the name of that person.  There are some developing indications that one of the positions could go to an AAU coach for a certain undecided recruit.

Steve Alford appears to have sent some "feelers" out to several schools to gage their interest in interviewing him.

Mark Turgeon could be making a coaching change.  Sources have stated that Arizona State is heavily considering making an offer sometime soon.

To clear things up on the Rob Jeter situation;  Iowa State never offered the position to Jeter.  Rob very badly wanted the job, however, after meeting with Pollard, Pollard notified Jeter that he was not the right man for the job.  The only person offered the job, and he was the first choice, was Greg McDermott.

There are developments behind the scenes regarding the preseason NIT next season.  Sources indicate that Iowa State is bargaining hard to make the tournament and will hopefully know the decision shortly.  One of the biggest hurdles is the lack of postseason play this year.

I will kiss Jason if both Curtis and Will coome back.

In other news, Mcdermott used the crapper twice this morning and forgot to wash his hands the second time.

To be fair, he's smelling like roses for now.

The thing I'm worried about the most is he says he'll recruit nationally if he has to. That's scary, cause you don't win the Big 12 with Iowa boys.

I was aware of the Westbrook thing but apparently he's reconsidering already. I don't expect him though. I don't expect Fears either, but I'm really thinking Carr will be back. He seemed to be impressed with McD. Sounds more and more like Blalock and Stinson will not hire agents and waqit to feel their draft position out.

This is basically the latest infro from CycloneFanatic.com, a guy who has sources in the AD and has been breaking a lot of stories lately.

Yes, you read that right.  Westbrook was granted a release from his LOI this past week but is once again in contact with Greg McDermott.  Indications are that McDermott is willing to meet with Westbrook next week when he gets done interviewing for the final assistant coaching position at the Final Four.

Of course, a big man would be nice.
