March 31, 200620 yr QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 03:34 PM) Studies have shown that the lungs of a person who smokes for years then quits return to normal within 1 year. Cillia regenerate making this possible. Also within a year the risk of coronary disease is reduced dramatically, and within 5 years the risk of stroke is that of a person who has never smoked. "How Quickly Do the Benefits of Quitting Start?" * "Just 20 minutes after your last cigarette, your blood pressure and pulse rate drop to normal and the body temperature of your hands and feet increases to normal." * "A mere 8 hours after your last smoke, the carbon monoxide level decreases and the oxygen level in your blood increases to normal." * "Just 24 hours after your last cigarette, you substantially lessen your chances of having a heart attack." * "Two days after your last cigarette, you will notice that your ability to taste and smell is enhanced." * "Three days later, your breathing should be noticeably better because your lung capacity will be greater." * "Your circulation will improve and your lung functioning will increase up to 30% within two weeks to three months after quitting." * "Between one month and nine months, the cilia in your lungs will regenerate, allowing your body to clean your lungs and reduce infection." * "One year after quitting, your risk of coronary heart disease is half that of a smoker." * "Five years after quitting, your risk of stroke is reduced to that of a nonsmoker." * "Ten years after quitting, the lung cancer death rate is about half that of a continuing smokers. The risk of cancer of the mouth, throat, esophagus, bladder, kidney and pancreas decreases." * "Fifteen years after quitting, your risk of coronary heart disease is that of a nonsmokers. But if you're going to make such strong statements you should have the right infomation to make them. sorry for misspeaking then, I had no idea about those facts
March 31, 200620 yr QUOTE(Soxfest @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 11:42 PM) Good ban the ramps next year! Everyone here understands that smoking is bad for them. But this is the type of s*** that makes every smoker feel like they are the offspring of Satan. I understand if you have a problem with smoking, but please try to be rational. I can't possibly see how people smoking on the ramps of the Cell could have any effect on you.

March 31, 200620 yr do know what is more annoying than someone smoking next to me? a fat person sitting next to me... i hate that so much, they stink and are always in contact with me because they can't fit in a seat designed for a normal person. i wish they would have a "no fat people" section of the park that would rule
March 31, 200620 yr QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 04:11 PM) They're not kidding about the smell thing. Boy, does that ever change after you quit. I was playing poker next to a guy that would occasionally go out for a smoke. He'd come back in and I was about to puke. I never knew. Now I know how my wife knew when I had just a drag.

I mean if you are 5'8 and weight 250+ you should have to buy two tickets, if you have to get a seatbelt extender you shouldn't be flying it is unsafe to have that much inertia!

I have no problem with people smoking on the ramps but it could become a similar situation during sellouts where it will be like the 40 people huddled around the entrance of my office building laying down a smoke screen to enter. At least at a baseball game you aren't wearing a suit that cost $$s to get dry cleaned.
