A Look on the Bright Side

So we are 12-5 in our last 17 games!!! I'll take that any day of the week. After reading through all the negativity here today, everyone needs to take a step back and ENJOY the season.

KW knows more than anyone on this site about putting together a world series team, so quit doubting him.

Boone straight up beat out the competition in ST so yes he deserves a shot up here in the big leagues. Hafner has since hit three more home runs, so let me guess all those pitchers should be sent down as well.

Things will not go the Sox way 100% of the time, that is just plain common sense.

This list could really go on and on, but just make sure you mark me down as the guy who will enjoy this season and not be so damn worried all the time.

I mean hell, the season is 3% over, so is it really time to start to panic?????

:gosox1: Finish up strong in KC and on to Detroit to bring them back to life!

I am with you 100%.  I live and die with each game, if the lose I am in a bad mood for quite a while and when they win I feel great.  It is a long season and when the dust settles I see the Sox on top.

That is why there is Miller Lite also, for nights like tonight!!!

:drink , sleep, wake up and watch the Sox kick ass!

I think the Sox will be fine, but it's hard for me to look at it that way. It was fun to start last season 17-8. And yea, they're the World Series Champions, but it's a new year now and they're 1-4. ...Doesn't seem to feel as good.

The alarming thing is we've already faced adversity.

Dye is hurt

And Hermy is out because of injury.

Face facts ... we do need both these guys.

Our lineup ain't nearly as potent with Mack playing instead of Dye.

And our bullpen no matter how we slice it is suspect without Hermy.

We need that extra veteran body.

That all said ... our starting pitching is too good for us to suck like this for long.

We do need to play great baseball though because face facts, the Indians and

Tigers are going to be pretty damn good.

Semi off topic, I hear a rumor that Hermy was out calling it quits due to the nagging back issues. Anyone hear this as well or any truth to it? God I hope not. Even with a hurt back he's better then a lot of closers out there...

Chip

I doubt he'd retire until after this season is over. He's still getting paid right now.

I wouldn't really call him better than most closers out there, especially with his bad back. If he performed like he did last year throughout his career, it would be one thing, but that was his best season in the bullpen (and overall) by a wide margin.

I agree. This certainly isn't 2005 anymore and I had a hunch we wouldn't be on that magic carpet ride for two years in a row.

Hey the Yankees aren't doing much better and lest everybody forget, Cleveland was awful the first half last year before they turned into the no-losing monster that almost swept us out of the playoffs.

I will invoke the refrain that I used last year, and the year before that: talk to me at the All Star break. That's the best indicator of where your season is going (although granted out September swoon last year seemed to come out of nowhere).

Panic? No. I'm a bit concerned about the bullpen, but welcome back to reality. This is how seasons usually go.
