May 24, 200619 yr Ozzie came up with Maggs, Frank, Carlos Lee, and the 1994 lineup Thomas, Ventura, and I believe he said Julio Franco. How does this year's 3,4,5 match up, and which one do you think was best?
May 24, 200619 yr 2006 is up there. I still wish Belle and Thomas could have had a mvp type season the same year rather than one after the other. Can you imagine 97 Thomas with 98 Belle and a healthy ventura?
May 24, 200619 yr Wasn't there a Baines-Luzinski-Kittle sometime during the 80s? Maybe I was too small to remember back then. Dang, though; this 3-4-5 is just a slight edge better than Ventura-Thomas-Franco though.....or remember for one season, Thomas-Ellis Burks-Ventura!!!! (93)
May 24, 200619 yr Well the best 4 man wrecking crew I've seen would have been the 2000 team: Hurt: 43 HR, 143 RBI, .328 BA, 112 BB, .436 OBP, .625 SLG, 1.061 OPS Maggs: 32 HR, 126 RBI, .315 BA, 60 BB, .371 OBP, .546 SLG, .917 OPS Caballo: 24 HR, 92 RBI, .301 BA, 38 BB, .345 OBP, .484 SLG, .829 OPS Paulie: 21 HR, 97 RBI, .298 BA, 47 BB, .363 OBP, .481 SLG, .844 OPS Now that production level is SCARY GOOD, but I think Thome, Konerko, Dye, and Gooch IF HEALTHY can put up numbers that are comparable and damn possibly even better (I think Gooch can hit 21 bombs, although I doubt 97 RBI's, but you see my point). May 24, 200619 yr QUOTE(RX Bandits @ May 24, 2006 -> 12:04 AM) when it is all said and done 2000 sluggers will be better than the 2006 sluggers IMO How do you figure? If healthy, Thome's numbers will be comparable to Frank's, Konerko will have comparable if not somewhat better numbers than Maggs, Dye will probably finish with numbers better than Lee, and I think that Gooch's numbers will be very similar to those of Paulie in 2000.

I think the 2006 squad will fall short in the batting average dept.
May 24, 200619 yr Author QUOTE(YASNY @ May 24, 2006 -> 01:33 AM) I think the 2006 squad will fall short in the batting average dept. True, but as far as consistency, this squad has to be up there based on the LH bat of Thome. It seemed that our 200-2004 squads got shut down by tough RH pitching quite a bit.

I'll never get over how the '99-02 teams never won squat. :headshake :headshake
