Best route to the Cell

What's up soxtalkers? I recently got a new job three weeks ago, and I have yet to go to a game straight from work.

Tomorrow, that changes.

I need to know what you guys think would be the better route leaving Mount Prospect between 4 and 4:30.

Should I take

294 S

90 E

exit 55A (35th)

OR

294 S

55 N

94 E

i know 90 takes me by O'Hare, but its the more direct route. I'm used to coming from the Naperville area, but obviously don't have a choice tomorrow. Thanks for the help.

Maybe someone else may have a better idea, but if you take the second route that you listed, forget about 94E. You could take 55N to DAMEN Ave. Getting off at Damen ave, you will go about 2-3 blocks south to 35th street. Go east on 35th for....approx 2 miles or so. You'll see parking everywhere. If you get there early enough, you can take 35th street east to Wentworth Ave, go South on Wentworth for 1 1/2 blocks until you see some black iron gates on your right hand side that lead into "Progressive Baptist Church". Park in there (Unless it's Sunday), and you'll be directly in back of Right Field.

Your from mount prospect. I'm from Arlington Heights. My Dad lives in MP near the train station and we usually go through des plains and take 294 heading south and get off on congress park way and as soon as I get I turn on to Canal street and from there just head further south all the way down to 31st. We park at Lot C mostly. Its a way of avoiding all the traffic to the game.

It is however the correct answer :).

Just take WU85's advice though, I've gone to games coming from your hood and that's the best way to go.

The ryan isn't THAT bad, at least when I take it to go to sox games (afternoon-4ish). It takes an extra 15 or so minutes, but not nearly as bad as I was expecting.

As for the churck parking lot, you're right on my friend. I've been preaching this thing for years now. If you take the ryan to and from the park, this is far and away the best lot to get in. You're on the highway in less than a minute.

The Ryan....it depends when your going down there. If your going early (like 2 hours early, 1 and a half hours), then you'll be ok. However if your going any later than that, stay the hell away because it turns into a disaster area as gametime approaches.

will they tow you from the church lot if a weeknight service is goin on?

beat me to it... I take it from Rosemont to Washington then transfer lines. After that I take it to Sox-35th.. It's cheap and easy...

They just close the parking lot off on Sundays, if they have something going on there during the week they would just close it off. So no, you don't have to worry about your car getting towed.

i personally like to teleport. But thats just me.

I come from Huntley and while this can make for a little longer commute, I prefer it.

I-90, get off at Fullerton. Park for free around DePaul and take the Redline to the game.

Just like how I like my women...

I used to live on the SW Side of chicago and would use the red line, but if I was going from downtown, I'd use the green line...it's even better and less crowded.

fair enough, whenever I got to a game, I leave AT LEAST 2.5 hours before first pitch, usually get their around or before the gates open.

It's a win-win situation, beat the traffic and get to spend more time at the park

With my job I struggle to make it there by gametime...

I do the same thing actually, but that advice is from a game earlier this year when I couldn't leave very early and saw the Ryan's bad side.

I usually leave from naperville about 4-4:40ish.

355 to 55 get off on ASHLAND take that to 35th street. Look for parking.

NEVER do the RYAN.. thats a NO NO

takes me about 1:25 minutes on a bad day!
