July 6, 200619 yr I have noticed this year more and more, DJ is doing the bulk of the play-by-play and Hawk drops in a word or two each inning. I know the Wimpy used to do an inning and for a while DJ used to do one as well, but it seems as if DJ is taking over the PBP. Anyone heard anything?
July 6, 200619 yr Hawk always allows DJ to do some PBP every game. Usually later in the game. Maybe DJ's going longer because Hawk's busy "down the hall" so to speak.

July 6, 200619 yr QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 12:00 PM) LOL! Either that or he's sippin on some JD and needs a minute to collect himself. Hawk: Take over DJ...I'm...in the bag. DJ: Flyball... ::spectacular catch:: DJ: Caught.
July 6, 200619 yr Hawk just likes talking about the old days. Which is cool. I like hearing stories about the old timers. DJ has gotten alot better in general.
July 6, 200619 yr Hawk needs to be doing the 9th inning, especially when we're winning. It seems like DJ is doing PBP alot more than he used to.
July 6, 200619 yr I think a lot of it right now is superstition. If DJ is doing PBP and the Sox have a good inning, he does more. Hawk is in the booth just about the entire game, I have a pretty good vantage point, so it isn't an incredible amount of bathroom breaks.

July 7, 200619 yr Is it just me or does DJ sound about a hundred times better on national broadcasts? He rarely stutters or misspeaks on the Fox Saturday games while it seems like at least once per Sox game, he gives the wrong score or misreads a statistic. Is he just trying too hard to be a homer in Hawk's presence? There's got to be something to it.
