July 12, 200619 yr Bike (Barrett) 3:22 I've got a bike, you can ride it if you like. It's got a basket, a bell that rings And things to make it look good. I'd give it to you if I could, but I borrowed it. You're the kind of girl that fits in with my world. I'll give you anything, everything if you want things. I've got a cloak it's a bit of a joke. There's a tear up the front. It's red and black. I've had it for months. If you think it could look good, then I guess it should. You're the kind of girl that fits in with my world. I'll give you anything, everything if you want things. I know a mouse, and he hasn't got a house. I don't know why I call him Gerald. He's getting rather old, but he's a good mouse. You're the kind of girl that fits in with my world. I'll give you anything, everything if you want things. I've got a clan of gingerbread men. Here a man, there a man, lots of gingerbread men. Take a couple if you wish. They're on the dish. You're the kind of girl that fits in with my world. I'll give you anything, everything if you want things. I know a room full of musical tunes. Some rhyme, some ching, most of them are clockwork. Let's go into the other room and make them work If it weren't for Barrett than there probably would be no Pink Floyd.

July 12, 200619 yr QUOTE(bmags @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 05:22 PM) also... i don't really like post barret pink floyd, it has its singles, but i find most of it to be pretentious tripe. And i listen to post rock! I actually enjoy the post Barrett era more. Though some of the success like Wish You Were Here and The Wall are due to Syd Barrett.
July 13, 200619 yr Hey Syd, thank's for going nuts on acid and whatever else you did. If not for that the more talented Dave Gilmore wouldn't have been in Floyd. Edit: My favorite Barrett story is back in the early 70's when he was all drugged up and kidnapped a producers cat and fed it acid and the cat went bonkers. Syd had some serious issues. I'm surprised he lived as long as he did. Edited July 13, 200619 yr by SoxFanForever
July 13, 200619 yr QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 03:06 AM) If not for that the more talented Dave Gilmore wouldn't have been in Floyd. for one, gilmore joined floyd a little before syd left, and for 2, gilmore's a one trick pony that couldn't dream to be as creative as syd.
July 13, 200619 yr QUOTE(bmags @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 03:45 AM) for one, gilmore joined floyd a little before syd left, and for 2, gilmore's a one trick pony that couldn't dream to be as creative as syd. Gilmore wouldn't have been in a more high profile position in the band if not for Barrett going bonkers. That is what I was saying. Also, if you believe that Barrett's drug induced ramblings are more "creative" than Gilmore then more power to you.
