This is a sad day, as I've come to the realization that the Tigers and Twins are significantly better teams than the Sox, and will continue to be going forward.

This is what happens when you constantly deal your prospects: You create a window of opportunity, but it doesn't remain open very long. Our lineup is old. Our pitching is overrated and locked up long-term. So, in other words, get used to this staff; outside of the addition of McCarthy, it won't change very much until 2008.

The Tigers and Twins have reinvigorated their teams with the addition of young, power arms. Like the Yankess, we threw money at the issue (Vazquez); like the Yankess, we're getting burned.

I love KW, but I'd really wish he'd try drafting a power arm every now and then. I think we have enough soft tossers at the ML level.

YOU ARE NUTS.......

Widger caught today, blame it on him

It's Widger's fault that we have only managed one run so far and stranded 8?

Not on his own, but he's sure been a big part of it.

I think you're taking this a little too far, wait, alot too far. The Twins are most definitely not a better team. They have two great young pitchers in Santana and Liriano. The Tigers on the other hand, they might be better right now. They remind me alot of us last year. They've held us to one run so far, and then they found a way to take the lead. They have great pitching this year, it all seems very familiar. Take a step of the ledge though, this thing is far from over. We need to start playing better fast though. Our offense hasn't been hitting since before the break.

So has Uribe, Crede, and Ozuna. Only Anderson and Dye have had a good game so far.

I would agree that no one wants him in there right now, but he's not the reason we're losing.

They also have Mauer, Morneau, Cuddyer, and several more pitching prospects with great stuff in the minors. They will be the team to beat in 2007 and beyond.

.409 winning percentage with Widger starting, .680 wih AJ

a little strange eh?

LOL. Amazing where the expectations have gone for this team, and for good reason. We have the second best record in the majors in late July, and we've played like crap for 2 and 1/2 weeks. Two years ago ago, this would have been a sweet place to be. That's what success does to you though.

Don't count this Tigers team out either. Their pitching is likely to only get better. Zumaya will either be closing or in the rotation next year, Verlander will have a full season under his belt, Bonderman is only getting better, Maroth will be healthy again, and they have a couple more of those pitchers in the pipeline.

Correction NOW .391 winning % with Widger starting

So we should close it down until when?

2010? 2011?

Tell me when I should follow this team again...

It's not that simple. Verlander was a #2 overall pick. Zumaya fell to the 11th round, so NOONE thought he was this good.

The Sox did try with Nick Lemon in the 5th (?) round -- we all know how that turned out.
