August 30, 200619 yr Author QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 09:24 PM) Yes Contreras stayed undefeated up until the All-Star break and whenever he technically gave it up afterwords, but he had quite a few no-decisions and huge run support from the offense, I "felt" his falter well before it actually happened. JG > JC. Speaking of extraordinary run support, how the hell is Garland 15-4 right now with a mediocre 4.47 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP?
August 30, 200619 yr QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) Garland should be the runner-up pitching wise. It's amazing that Jose shouldn't even be in the conversation after the first two months he had. I really disagree with this. Garland literally sucked for the first 2 months of the season, JC had stunk for 3 starts, that's really it. Yes, he struggled a bit before those 3 starts but no where near what Jon did for the first few months.
August 30, 200619 yr CY Young- 1.Jon Garland (been carrying the staff since June), 2.Bobby Jenks (most consistent reliever in the pen), 3.Jose Contreras (awesome first half) MVP- 1. Jermane Dye 2. Thome, Crede and Konerko for tie. (Thome has more homers, but Paulies come during more crucial situations. Crede is having a career year and he still has that clutch magic.)
August 30, 200619 yr QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 08:39 PM) Be it right or wrong, I basically lump 1Bman an dDH into the same category when comparing them in the MVP. Can't be right or wrong, this is straight opinion, yours is as right as mine. Looking at the "Value" component of the DH, a 1st baseman can move and DH, the reverse isn't always true.
