Chicago Tribune (chicagosports.com) is reporting today that the Sox and Poreda are close to agreeing to terms.

Yeah, I've got him penciled in for the 5th spot in next year's Sox rotation.

I also just read that Poreda's agent (or advisor or someone like that) said that he expects Poreda to sign soon so he can get to Winston-Salem ASAP. So maybe he's not going to GF afterall. That would suck for the guy who wrote that article on how our top draft pick would be playing in GF this summer.

They might have him make 3 or 4 starts at GF and then move up.

Great Falls begins on the 19th. I'll get to see them play in the middle of July. What sucks for me every year though is that by the time they get down here to Ogden and Orem the top draft picks have usually moved on to either Kannapolis or Winston-Salem. Still, all the same it's cool to see an affiliate.
