Of course. I would guess that those who have problems with the UN, for the most part, just don't like the way they do things - not the fact that it exists as a forum.

There is a HUGE value to a "forum of all nations" but it is not the UN.

They usually do way better in the humanitarian end of things than they do in the political end of things. Is there a use for them? Eh, I guess, but they should be much more effective and reactive. The red tape and politics are just nightmares, especially when you add the corruption that has gotten all of the way up to the top of the organizational structure of the UN. They are pretty much the Articles of Confederation. Good starting point, but they have outlived their usefulness, and need a replacement.

Not really, it keeps stuff from actually happening of any consequence in the actions of the UN outside of humanitarian needs. The UN was designed to do nothing - with the mindset that doing nothing but keeping people arguing keeps them from fighting.

Tell that to the genocide victims in Darfur.
