Peter Gammons wrong about White Sox

Featured Replies

The White Sox had one of the top five payrolls when they won the World Series in 2005 and re-established themselves on the baseball map.

Peter Gammons gets ripped a lot. I like him very much, for what it's worth. But his memory, and editors, let him down in his latest Angels article. :(

He might have been meaning before the 2006 season, right after we won the WS. I still don't think we were top5, but at least top10 im sure.

EDIT: Actually, after looking it up I noticed we had the 4th highest payroll in 2006.

He's alright, I like Tim Kurkjian better though. Yeah we have one of the higher salaries in the league.

I believe our payroll was in the low-to-mid 70's when we won it all. That was good for about middle of the pack in the league.

I'm probably wrong, but that's how I remember it.

13th in the league, $75 million. Right behind the Astros at 12.
