2008 Barons Roster...

Featured Replies

Pitchers: Justin Cassel, Lucas Harrell, Jon Link, John Lujan, Kyle McCulloch, Brian Omogrosso, Clayton Richard, Derek Rodriguez, Clevelan Santeliz, Carlos Torres, Joseph Torres, Matt Zaleski

Catchers: Cole Armstrong, Eric Hollis, Jared Price

Infielders: Javier Castillo, Robert Hudson, Victor Mercedes, Micah Schnurstein, Robert Valido

Outfielders: David Cook, Stefan Gartrell, Noah Hall, Ricardo Nanita, Miguel Negron

That Lujan looked good the other day.

I'm excited to see how Harrell and Cassel do. I especially liked Cassel from what I saw in his one inning.

Who's playing 3rd? Also, besides Cassel, Harrell, and McCulloch (such a waste of a 1st round pick), who are the other starters? Is Omogrosso going to be relief or start?

I would guess Schnurstein

I would guess Schnurstein

I thought he was 1B now though...

I see Valido is back in Birmingham... I'm still holding out a little hope for him, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

I really like Cassel and Harrell. Other than that looking forward to what McCulloch and Valido will do.

What about Daron Roberts, CJ Lang, and Paulo Orlando?

They were starting players at Winston-Salem last year.

Where did they go?

Roberts was taken in the Rule 5 draft, Orlando probably will be repeating Winston-Salem and Lang probably will never play above A ball.

If Valido can't turn it around, and Miranda plays at W-S the way he played in GF and Kanny, then Valido will probably become a permanent bench guy before the season ends.

Hey BTW, where did you get this info? They still have last year's roster on the site.

B-Ham will be fun to watch. I like Gartrell and Cook, and they don't get much attention as "prospects".

I thought Omogrosso did well as a starter. I'm surprised that he's not in the rotation.

Barons.com under roster, the jersey numbers are posted now too. Originally posted on the AL.com website under sports, under Birmingham Barons. I'm a season ticket holder, so I'm looking forward to the season too. The Schnur is back!

It's still possible, those are just my educated guesses. Cassel, McCulloch, Richard & Rodriguez were all starters at Winston-Salem last year. Harrell was a starter before he had arm surgery last year. I imagine Harrell will be brought along slowly this year, so some of his starts could go to Omogrosso or Zaleski. Both of whom made starts last year and pitched in relief, thus why I suggested that they will be the Barons swingmen.

I just got an e-mail from the Media Relations guy for the Barons, Omogrosso will be starting and Derek Rodriguez will be pitching in relief.
